Computer problems!

Unread postby Rose2283 » February 24th, 2010, 6:56 am

Hello,

I was being helped on this forum before, but due to personal problems couldn't reply and this topic became inactive. Hopefully someone will be nice enough to help me again :)

My computer often freezes for no reason. My anti virus alerts me that it is not working. Sometimes I must manually reboot my computer because it is frozen. When I do this, sometimes there is a black screen which says, "Scanning disc". When I do perform a virus scan, my computer always freezes when the scan reaches C:/windows/system32w/puiobj.dll

Here is the hijack list and uninstall list. Please help! :)

Re: Computer problems!

Unread postby xixo_12 » March 5th, 2010, 11:42 am

Hi :),

Can I delete the things I downloaded to my desktop now? (RSIT and GMER?)

Just follow my instructions. Don't do anything else.

First,
P2P software.
IMPORTANT: I notice there are signs of one or more P2P (Peer to Peer) File Sharing Programs on your computer.
uTorrent

  • It's not a good idea to have them.
  • You will be sharing files from uncertified sources, and these are often infected. The bad guys use P2P filesharing as a major conduit to spread their wares.
  • If you do not wish to remove your P2P programs, don't proceed with the next instruction and please tell me to close this topic.

Next,
OTM by Old Timer.
Please download from HERE and save to the desktop.
  • Right click on OTM.exe > Run as an Administrator.
  • Copy the lines in the codebox below.
    :processes
    :files
    C:\found.010
    C:\Program Files\uTorrent
    C:\Users\Rose Lannan\AppData\Roaming\uTorrent
    :commands
    [emptytemp]
    [start explorer]
    [reboot]
  • Return to OTM, right click in the Paste Instructions for Items to be Moved window (under the yellow bar, Code box into OTMoveIt3 (1).) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar), and paste it in your next reply.
  • Close OTM.

Note:
  • If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process.
  • If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.
  • In this case, after the reboot, open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document back here in your next post.

Next,
CKScanner.
Please download from HERE and save to the desktop.
  • Right click on CKScanner.exe > Run as Administrator to run it and click Search For Files.
  • After a very short time, when the cursor hourglass disappears, click Save List To File.
  • A message box will verify the file saved.
  • Double-click the CKFiles.txt icon on your desktop and copy/paste the contents in your next reply.

Next,
Discussion.
Please describe any problems that you still have.

Next,
Checklist.
Please post.
  • Content of OTM log
  • Content of CKFiles.txt
  • Respond to our discussion

I have found some strange new items within my folders which I dare not open. For instance, in my "Rose Lannan" folder, there are 2 items called "ntuser.dat.LOG1 and ntuser.dat.LOG2". Also, in my pictures folder, there is a folder called "PCM". My McAfee virus won't work either.

Thanks again! :) I really appreciate your help.

Hi,
Let's try this.
No worries about the file/folder you have mentioned. It's legit.

First,
Antivirus
  • We will remove current antivirus (McAfee) and equip the system with another one.
  • You are advice to have only one antivirus running on the system.
  • Please consider one of this programs and save to your desktop (Don't install it yet):

Next,
McAfee Removal Tool
  • Please download from HERE and save to the desktop.
  • Close all programs and right click on MCPR.exe > Run as Administrator to run it.
  • Follow the prompt and allow the system to reboot.

Next,
Antivirus - Install
Please proceed to install what you have download.

Next,
Reboot into the usual account.

Next,
RSIT.
  • Copy the code as below by highlight > right click > copy:
    Code: Select all
    "%userprofile%\desktop\rsit.exe" /info
  • Click on Image > Run....
  • Paste the code into the box and click OK.
  • Click on Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Once it finishes, two logs will open.
    • log.txt will be opened maximized
    • info.txt will be opened minimized
  • Please post the contents of both logs in your next post.
***You can find manually the log at C:\rsit

Next,
Checklist.
Please post.
  • Content of log.txt and info.txt (Find both in c:\rsit)
  • Please tell me how is your system behave right now.

Hi,

My computer seems to be working fine, but when I do a quick scan with my anti virus, the computer will always freeze when the scan reaches 35% completion. It frose when it reached C:/windows/system 32/psapi.dll and other C:/windows/system32 files. This would also happen with McAfee. Thanks :)

Hi,

First,
Information.
We have done all we can do to help here. It's malware free. Remaining issue possibly related with hardware. I strongly believe it could be hard drive failure.
If you need further assistance, I would refer you to one of the Systems/Hardware forums here:

Good System/Hardware Help Forums

You may need to do free registration in order to post at their forum ;)

Next,
OTM - Cleaning
  • Right click on OTM.exe > Run as Administrator to run the tool.
  • Click on CleanUp!.
  • Select Yes when the "Begin cleanup Process?" prompt appears.
  • If you are prompted to Reboot during the cleanup, select Yes.
  • The tool will delete itself once it finishes, if not delete it by yourself.

Next,
You may proceed to delete the tools that involved during this process.

Next,
Information.

Safe surfing! and Good luck :)

As any remaining issues do not involve malware and therefore fall outside the scope of this forum, this topic is now closed.
