Security Tool Strikes Again

Unread postby Flail » October 11th, 2009, 2:28 pm

Yesterday, as I was attempting to switch my Anti-Virus software, I was struck with the infamous Security Tool. Searches on the web directed me to Spyware Doctor as the only solution, but I don't necessarily have the $30 to spend; something of which I was unaware when I first downloaded it and scanned my computer, fingers crossed.

What followed was a lot of swearing, frustration, and trying different programs in the hopes of getting rid of it; other scanners, registry cleaners, Avast!. Last night, around 11p I had thought the problem was solved. After several restarts, I was not greeted with the typical icon-less desktop, the processes stopped coming up when I checked TaskManager. I thought I was safe. I thought it was over.

Today, however, it is back with a vengeance. I had wanted to try Malwarebytes AntiMalware program, but whenever I downloaded and installed it, the .exe was mysteriously missing; I am stumped.

The following is my log file from HijackThis. Hopefully it will shed some light on this problem, or someone will know what to do so that I can just get back to normal over here. The computer in question is my desktop; a home, personal computer. Thank you in advance.
