I hope someone can please help or provide me with some information.
Yesterday my laptop was working correctly but since yesterday afternoon I can only access my desktop - i.e. nothing fom the stat menu this ranges from the control panel to "my docs" - I get the looped windows explorer has stopped working error message.
I can access the internet and any programmes that are on my quick launch and programmes that are on my desktop.
I have tried dragging a shortcut from the start menu eg my music to the desktop but this doesn't work.
Another thing I have noticed is that when I turn on my laptop there is a HP update to run for "HP smart web printing", when I run this it gets halfway through the instillation then fails due to: "hp smart web printing add on for internet explorer (process id 5192)" - it tells me I need to close this but I can't see that it is running anywhere, now I don't think I had this problem until this appeared, but can't say for sure, it maybe a coincidence? This may also be unrelated but I thought it was best to mention?
I have tried running various virus removal programmes/registry cleaning programmes but nothing has changed.
I tried to run the system restore but it will only let me restore upto 19:30 yesterday -12th September, there is an earlier system log of the 10th September but when I tried to restore to this it wasnt successful.
I am quite a relative novice in these kinds of issues so any help would be greatly appreciated.
