Thanks in advance to everyone!
I have a browser hijack issue.
I have CA Security as my antivirus/spam/spyware/firewall software. (couldn't clean it or even find it)
I downloaded Spybot when I figured out I had a problem (didn't let me open it) (planning to uninstall if I don't need it)
Powerpath is a server based software I use for my company (trusted)
I don't need the eblvd or webx (used for online webinars)
I don't need the pcanywhere (subscription expired)

Thought this might help make it easier.

Hi, thanks for the patient.

Refer to the forum rules
We do not help in cleaning business or corporate computers. There may be restrictions and modifications installed on such machines that could be damaged or altered by the actions we take to remove Malware. There may also be legal issues regarding any loss of business data that we do not wish to deal with.
If you ask for help and, unknown to us, it involves a business computer, you need to understand that any damages resulting from our advice are YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.

May I know is the computer that you asking for help is your personal computer?

It is my personal computer that I use for business also. I have backed up on disk all documents needed. I understand the risk.

We will begin with ComboFix.exe. Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

* Ensure you have disabled all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

Please include these in your next reply:
  • C:\ComboFix.txt
  • A fresh HijackThis log
  • and also tell me the computer condition now.

This site does not provide assistance in cleaning business or corporate computers, or personal computers that are used for business purposes.

There could be legal issues if sensitive information is disclosed via the logs or if the infection or cleanup process damages company files. It is difficult to distinguish between well intentioned "fixing" by the end user and hacking the system. The damage that can be done to a business infrastructure is immense. If it is a networked computer, it is likely that more than one machine is infected. Thus, the company IT Department needs to be involved in the cleanup process.

Most of the tools used in the cleanup process are not "enterprise" versions and have only been tested on home computers. The tools could make policy or other setting changes that could conflict with the company policy. In addition, the software and other tools used in the cleanup process are free for personal use where the computer owner is accepting the risk. Not only are employees not in a position to accept such liability for company property, but we cannot knowingly abuse the terms of use of the software developers and vendors who provide the tools.

Please notify your IT Department or company approved vendor.

As this issue involves either a company owned machine or a machine that is used for business purposes, it falls outside the scope of this forum. Therefore, this topic is now closed.
