Win32TrojanTdss Malware won't go away

Unread postby dadinplaid » August 11th, 2009, 2:55 pm

Hello,

I have tried erasing this malware with PCTools, XoftSpy, and Ad-Aware Free AE but it keeps returning to freeze my pc and crash Internet Explorer. Ad-Aware seems to be the best at picking it up and quarantining it, then I periodically delete it from quarantine list. When it is detected I am asked to reboot the computer and on reboot it performs a boot cleaner which supposedly deletes the files. Then when I open IE it will crash and Ad-Aware starts the process again... very frustrating. I am looking for a permanent cure here. Please help. Here are the contents of my HijackThis Log:

Hi dadinplaid,
-----------------------------------------------------------
Disable Spyware Doctor's real-time protection
Open Spyware Doctor and click on the Onguard button to the left.
Remove the check from the Activate OnGuard option in the next window to disable all protections.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Disable Ad-Aware Service
This will work for either version 2007 or 2008
Go to Start, Run OR Start, Programs, Accessories, Command Prompt and type services.msc and click OK.
Under the Extended Tab, find one of these services, depending on which version you have:
Ad-Aware 2007 Service or Lavasoft Ad-Aware Service
Click once on the service to highlight it.
Right-Click on the service. Click on Properties
Select the General tab.
Next to Service Status, click Stop.
Click the Arrow-down tab on the right-hand side of the Start-up Type box.
From the drop-down menu, click on Disabled
Click Apply , then OK
-----------------------------------------------------------
Retrieve the List of Installed programs Using HJT
Open HijackThis, click Open The Misc Tools Section. Then scroll down the list if you need to, click Open Uninstall Manager and Save List...
The List of installed programs will automatically be saved as uninstall_list.txt in your HiJackThis folder. In addition, the list opens in Notepad so you can also save as another name in another location if you wish. Please paste the contents into your next reply.
Click the "X" in the upper right corner of the HiJackThis window to close it.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Download and Run ComboFix
IMPORTANT NOTE: ComboFix is a VERY POWERFUL tool. DO NOT use it without guidance.
ComboFix uses very forceful tactics to remove malware from your system. Your antivirus software may warn you about the file.
Please disable all your antivirus software, firewalls, and antispyware software BEFORE running ComboFix!!
If you don't know how to disable your antivirus, stop and ask
  • Download ComboFix from here and save it to your desktop
  • Disable ALL antivirus/antimalware programs before proceeding!
  • Now start ComboFix
  • The tool will check whether the Recovery Console is present on your system. If it is not, ComboFix will prompt you whether you would like to install it.
  • If it is not, make sure you are connected to the internet as ComboFix needs to download a file. When you are connected to the internet, click Yes and follow the prompts. When asked whether to continue scanning or to exit, click Yes to continue scanning (no need to disconnect from the internet as ComboFix breaks your internet connection for you).
  • Do not touch the computer AT ALL while ComboFix is running!
  • When finished, the report will open. Reenable your protection software and post the log in your next reply
A copy is located here -> C:\ComboFix.txt
If you cannot connect to the internet after running ComboFix, unplug the cable you use to connect to the internet and plug it back in.

So we are looking for the Uninstall list from HiJackThis (You may want to post that separately, before you run ComboFix) and the log from ComboFix.

Please post the entire combofix log.
A lot of it is missing.

By the way, there are quite a few things left to do. Leaving now would not be a good idea.

Due to a lack of response, this topic is now closed.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Infected? Virus, malware, adware, ransomware, oh my! forum, include a fresh FRST log, and wait for a new helper.
