Malware & Other Odd Happenings (HJT attached)

This is the second time this has happened, and about 2 weeks ago, I reformatted and here I am again. I'm generally conscientious about being on the net -- as I primarily use it for genealogical research.

Anyhow, here are some of the odd happenings:

Searches on google are redirected to places I don't care to go -- mostly adverts.
Pop under "audio" adverts.
Iexplore.exe running in Task Manager sucking up resources (You couldn't pay me to use IE.)
Every hour on the 6th minute (12:06, 1:06, etc.) a new tab opens in firefox with online555casino.

For the last week, I couldn't run MWB or anything else that might be cootie catcher related. In AVG my option for scanning root kits is mysteriously greyed out at this time. I doubt very much that whatever I have it letting AVG do much of anything but eat resources.

There's some bizarre "Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS)" on my HJT log that doesn't make me feel very well.
