bronkette,
Just take this one step at a time.
--------------------------------------------------------
Download and Run ToolBar S&D
Download ToolBar S&D and save to your desktop.
Disable your antivirus and antimalware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ToolBar S&D.
If you don't know how to disable your AntiVirus, please ask and I will help. Usually you can right click the AVG antivirus icon in the system tray (multi-color square) and turn off the guard or exit.
  • Double-click ToolBar S&D.exe
  • Choose the language, then choose Option 1 (Search)
  • Wait till the end of the scan.
  • Notepad will open containing the report log.
  • Post that log in your next reply.
  • A copy will also be saved in %SystemDrive%\TB.txt. Usually C:\TB.txt
--------------------------------------------------------
Run DDS
Download DDS by sUBs to your desktop.
Your antivirus software might question the file. If it does, please turn off your AntiVirus first.
  • Double click DDS.scr to run it and wait for the scan to finish
  • When finished DDS.txt will open
  • A short while later, a prompt will open. Answer Yes
  • DDS will continue scanning
  • When done, Attach.txt will open. Save it but don't post it.
  • Post the contents of DDS.txt

(Remember to turn your AntiVirus back on if you stopped it for the scan.)

So we are looking for the TB.txt log from Toolbar S&D, and the dds.txt log from the DDS scanner.
You can use a separate post for each if it's more convenient.

bronkette,
Tell me what do you know about each of these:
mybasicisp.net
PenTeleData/ ptd.net
Cisp.com

-----------------------------------------------------------
It is this forum's policy to decline help to those who are either using illegal copies of software and/or are attempting to circumvent the software's restrictions in order to use said software without lawfully purchasing the product, in violation of the EULA (End User License Agreement).
To do otherwise would put us in the position of aiding and abetting an unlawful act.
The forum's policy on invalid copies of Windows or Other Software is here : http://forum.malwareremoval.com/viewtopic.php?t=550
As the information you have posted indicates that your system falls into this category, we are unable to offer assistance until it can be conclusively demonstrated that this situation has been rectified.

The cracked programs include CorelDraw, Dreamweaver and Flash_CS4.

Let me know what you want to do. If you don't wish to continue, that is your call.
If you want to Uninstall them or assure me they are no longer on your system, proceed as follows:
-----------------------------------------------
Run the RSIT Scanner
Please download the Scanner and save it to your desktop. The icon will be named RSIT.exe
Doubleclick the RSIT icon.
When the scan is complete, two text files will open
log.txt <- this one will be maximized
info.txt <- this one will be minimized
( Default location for both files is C:\rsit\ )
Copy/Paste the contents of both log.txt and info.txt into your next post please. Use two posts if you prefer.

OK...

mybasicISP.net I've recently downloaded as I'm on vacation and wanted internet access. At home I use a cable modem.

PenTeleData/ ptd.net is the service my cable company uses.

Cisp.com...I have no idea what this is.

For the record, I have uninstalled the software as requested. It is no longer on my computer.

bronkette,
Having older Java versions present will get your machine infected with malware called Vundo. We will remove those older versions along with a few other programs.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Remove Programs Using Control Panel(XP)
From Start, Settings, Control Panel or Start, Control Panel, click Add/Remove Programs.
Highlight each Entry, as follows, one by one, if it exists, and choose Remove :
Uniblue RegistryBooster 2009
Uniblue SpeedUpMyPC 2009
Uniblue SpyEraser
Uniblue System Tweaker
Java(TM) 6 Update 5
Java(TM) 6 Update 7
Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_03

Take extra care in answering questions posed by any Uninstaller. Some questions may be worded to deceive you into Keeping the program.

Do not uninstall the newer Java version, Java(TM) 6 Update 13. Leave it on your machine.
----------------------------------------------------
Your system shows this:
AV: AVG Internet Security
AV: Lavasoft Ad-Watch Live! Anti-Virus (disabled)
FW: Sygate Personal Firewall
FW: AVG Firewall

This shows two Antivirus apps (one disabled) and two Firewalls. This is not OK, and can render your system unstable. You should really have one of each.
Right now you are OK on the AntiVirus, since one is disabled.
Having the two Firewalls though, is trouble.
I would suggest either:
(1) keep AVG with its AV and Firewall both active, and Uninstall both Lavasoft Ad-Aware and Sygate firewall.
or
(2) Keep the Lavasoft Ad-Aware Antivirus (activate it) along with the Sygate firewall, and Uninstall AVG Internet Security.
----------------------------------------------------------
Download and Install CCleaner
  • Download CCleaner from here . Choose the Slim version. You can save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on ccsetupXXX_slim.exe to start the installation of CCleaner. (XXX is the version number)
  • Click OK
  • Click Next
  • Click I agree
  • Click Next
  • Click Install
  • Once the installation has finished, click Finish
You can now delete the installer ccsetupxxx_slim.exe
-----------------------------------------------------------
Set Options in CCleaner and run Cleaning Scan.
Open CCleaner if it's not already running.
Do not use the Registry block to clean anything with this program. It is for experts only and it is risky.
(As a general rule, don't ever use a registry cleaner or "registry optimizer" of any kind on your machine).
  • Select Cleaner Settings.
  • Check All the items in Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer.
  • In the System Section, check Empty Recycle Bin, Temporary Files, Clipboard, memory Dumps, and ChkDsk File fragments.
  • In the Advanced section, don't have anything checked.
  • Click on the Options block on the left. Select Advanced.
Uncheck Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours.
  • Set Cookie Retention.
Click on the Options block on the left, then choose Cookies.
Under the Cookies to delete pane, highlight any cookies you would like to retain permanently (those companies or sites with which you regularly visit or do business), and click the right arrow > to move them to the Cookies to keep pane.
  • Run Cleaning Scan. Click on the Cleaner block on the left. Choose the Windows tab.
Click the Run Cleaner button. This process could take a while. When CCleaner shows how much has been removed, cleaning is finished.
----------------------------------------------------------
Let's check whether everything went OK:
Retrieve the Installed Programs List from CCleaner
Open CCleaner if it's not already running.
In the Left Pane, click Tools
Verify that Uninstall is highlighted in color, or click on it.
In the lower Right, click Save to Text File.
Pull down the arrow at the top of the Save dialog and choose Desktop as the location.
You can leave the filename as install.txt
Click Save
Exit CCleaner by clicking on the X button in the upper right of the CCleaner window.
Please post the contents of install.txt in your next post.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now let's look for Vundo and other malevolent entries.
Download and Run MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
Please go here to the Download Location, click on Download.
  • After clicking on the download and choosing Save, the "Save to location" dialog will come up.
  • Choose Desktop as the location to save the installer and click Save again.
  • You should now have a desktop icon named mbam-setup.exe. Double-click it.
  • Let it install the program where it wants to, with the default settings, and click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • If necessary, start Malwarebytes Anti-Malware again.
  • Once the program is running, select Perform Quick Scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • If it found any malware items. Be sure that every item is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location, and post the contents in your reply.
  • The log can also be found using the "Logs" tab in the program. You can click any log listed to open its contents. The logs are listed and named by time/date stamp.

So we are looking for the Installed Programs list from CCleaner, and the log from the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

askey, I've gotten as far as downloading the ccleaner, sort of. It seems that only half the file downloads. It stops at different times, but never past 55%. I get no error, but the file is obviously incomplete. I've also tried downloading the zip file, the same thing happens.

I've tried through both mozilla and ie. Tried saving and just running the software, no dice. :(

bronkette,
OK, let's use these instructions instead, starting from the point where you are trying to download CCleaner.
-----------------------------------------
TFC(Temp File Cleaner):
  • Please download TFC and save to your desktop,
  • Save any unsaved work. TFC will close all open application windows.
  • Double-click TFC.exe to run the program.
  • If prompted, click "Yes" to Reboot.
Note: Save your work. TFC will automatically close any open programs. Let it run uninterrupted.
It shouldn't take longer take a couple of minutes, and may only take a few seconds.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Retrieve the List of Installed programs Using HJT
Open HijackThis, click Open The Misc Tools Section. Then scroll down the list if you need to, click Open Uninstall Manager and Save List...
The List of installed programs will automatically be saved as uninstall_list.txt in your HiJackThis folder. In addition, the list opens in Notepad so you can also save as another name in another location if you wish. Please paste the contents into your next reply.
Click the "X" in the upper right corner of the HiJackThis window to close it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Download and Run MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware

We are looking for the installed programs list from HiJackThis, and the Malwarebytes log.

bronkette,
Now I need to know. Are you still getting redirects when you try to go to a website?
-----------------------------------------------------------
Install WinPatrol - Download and Install the Free WinPatrol, and view Instructions here: http://www.winpatrol.com/winpatrol.html
- WinPatrol is an active program that drops a "Scotty Dog" icon into the system tray (right click to check/change status), allows you to monitor/edit startups, services, Browser helpers, and prompts for permission if any program tries to change your system.

Let me know how you stand here.

askey, yes, I just googled and got redirected. :?

I'm downloading winpatrol right now. Btw, I'm very much impressed with the amount of garbage you've helped me get rid of.

bronkette,
First, disable Winpatrol by right-clicking the system tray Scotty Dog and choosing Exit Program
Now, let's run the Toolbar S&D again with the Fix option:
-----------------------------------------------------
Run ToolBar S&D Removals
Disable your antivirus and antimalware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ToolBar S&D.
  • Double-click ToolBar S&D.exe
  • Choose the language, then choose Option 2 (Fix)
  • Deleting Toolbar files / folders / services
  • Deleting Toolbar registry keys
  • Deleting nasty extensions
  • Creating a backup in the folder %SystemDrive%\ToolBar SD\Backup-TB
  • Wait till the end of the scan.
  • Notepad will open containing the report log.
  • Post that log in your next reply.
  • A copy will also be saved in (%SystemDrive%\TB.txt)

-----------------------------------------------------------
Download Blacklight from here:
http://www.f-secure.com/security_center/
Under "Downloads", click on Blacklight and Save it to your Desktop
or
Link to it from the ftp site: ftp://ftp.f-secure.com/anti-virus/tools/fsbl.exe
and save it to your desktop from there.

Go to Start-->Run, copy in the following text, and press Enter:
"%userprofile%\desktop\fsbl.exe" /expert

Accept the license agreement.
Click > scan, wait for it to fimish, then click Close

There will be a log on your desktop with the name fsbl.xxxxxxx.log (the xxxxxxx stand for numbers).
Copy and paste the contents of this log into your next reply.

So we are looking for the log from ToolBar S&D and the log from Blacklight.

Now, when I go to run "%userprofile%\desktop\fsbl.exe" /expert I get an error message "The parameter is incorrect".

I did have some difficulty downloading the file, same as ccleaner, however, throughout the download, I would pause it, then resume the download. It did seem to do the trick as the file was finally the 1.1M it was supposed to be. I had presumed the problem is related to the painfully slow dial-up connection I'm forced to use while on vacation.

*sigh*

Just double click on the file fsbl.exe
OK the license and let it run. (5-10 minutes?).
If it won't run, rename it first to hello.exe or something, then doubleclick it.
When it's done, click finish and tell me what it reports.
