Below are some important updates you need.

Update Adobe Reader

    Recently there have been vulnerabilities detected in older versions of Adobe Reader. It is strongly suggested that you update to the current version, 9.1.1.

    You can download it from http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
    After installing the latest Adobe Reader, uninstall all previous versions.
    If you already have Adobe Photoshop® Album Starter Edition installed or do not wish to have it installed UNcheck the box which says Also Download Adobe Photoshop® Album Starter Edition.

      If you don't like Adobe Reader (33.5 MB), you can download Foxit PDF Reader(3.5MB) from here. It's a much smaller file to download and uses a lot less resources than Adobe Reader.

      Note: When installing FoxitReader, be carefull not to install anything to do with AskBar.

Update Internet Explorer
Please go to the below link and get Internet Explorer updated to version 8. As older versions are open to vulnerabilities:

I don't know if it's pertinent, but, I cannot open Mozilla now. I click, the hourglass pops up for a second, then goes away. I right click on "open".... same thing. That Outlook message still pops too. I won't be able to check again til sometime tomorrow, so no rush.

Hello smurphie,

I would suggest an uninstall of Firefox and install a fresh new copy:
by going to Control Panel-->Add/Remove Programs--> Select Firefox and do complete uninstall.
Then do a reinstall of Firefox:
Download Firefox Here for a fresh copy.

Once done, please follow the instructions in my previous post for important updates.
I will advise on the best way of getting Outlook issue taken care after that is done.

Let me know if Firefox is working now.

Ok. Am downloading new Firefox & updating Adobe. I do not have time to post the logs as I have to go to work now. I will try to get them posted by Sunday. I don't want you to close my topic. This weekend in June is very busy in the hospitality industry ( I work in a hotel) as it is "Gay Days" or as it is now known One Mighty Weekend-- Reunion 09. Amazing amounts of money spent in a few days. I will be bartending. These folks are awesome tippers!!! Will post asap. Have a good weekend!!

Thanks for you information. Below are some suggestions for you and important steps to keep your computer safer in the future.

First, I'd go ahead and run the CD that is being requested.
Step 1

Clean up Tools Used
  • Click START then RUN
  • Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK
  • Image
The above procedure will reset your System Restore and clear out the backups and quarantines created during the course of this fix.

Not a Malware Issue

At this stage your machine looks to be clean of malware, so the problems you are experiencing are not likely to be malware related. I think the best and fastest solution for you is to post on a PC troubleshooting forum like the Browsers, Internet & email forum at WhatTheTech. They specialize in handling problems like this so you are certain to get expert assistance and a speedy resolution is very likely.

I'm sorry that I could not be of more help to you, and I wish you the best of luck with solving your computer problems. If you have any questions or require any other assistance please let me know.

You can help the fight, report it at Malware Complaints
Stand Up and be Counted!

Some of your legitimate programs will leave .tmp files as they run. Clean these out regularly. Before running a scan is a good time.

Use the following and KEEP UPDATED
A Realtime monitor : (Replaces Spybot)
Download and install the free version of WinPatrol. This program protects your computer in a variety of ways and will work well with your existing security software. Have a look at this tutorial to help you get started with the program. If you want to help the developer of the program and get more information about what the programs that you see in Winpatrol please check out Winpatrol Plus. It does not need a new download.

Help for now or in the future when new Anti Virus or Firewall are needing replaced. Only run 1 of each*
Check for updates at least WEEKLY
Antivirus: *Use only one*
AVAST! Anti-Virus

Needed Firewall: Monitors traffic IN and OUT Bound. Very Important. *Use only one*
Online Armor
Comodo Personal Firewall Install firewall ONLY! See below)
***Please Note:***When installing Comodo, it now is combined with Anti Virus. You may choose to intall Firewall only, as/If you have another Anti Virus program.
**Also, during setup, if present: unchech the Ask Toolbar which is automatically checked. Also: Uncheck during installation if present: Install Comodo SafeSurf, Make Comodo my default search provider and Make Comodo Search my homepage

Java Updates: *Always remove old Java Before installing New Version*
Java Update

Test open Ports:
SheildsUp (follow the links to Shield's-Up!)

Other Protection:


Also use online scanners as well; as some spyware/virus can disable your software. Check out these:

**Keep IE Secure:
Make your Internet Explorer more secure
You are using Internet Explorer. Therefore please read and follow the recommendations at this site. http://surfthenetsafely.com/ieseczone8.htm

* From within Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu and then click on Options.
* Click once on the Security tab
* Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
* Click once on the Custom Level button.
* Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
* Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
* Change the Initialise and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable
* Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
* Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt
* Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to Prompt
* When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.
* If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the settings, press the Yes button.
Next press the Apply button and then the OK to exit the Internet Properties page.

Last of all: Very Important: Keep All AntiVirus, Antispyware and Firewall UPDATED WEEKLY.
