Unable to run SpyBot and cannot open Anti-Malware sites

Unread postby billw1701 » April 18th, 2009, 2:01 pm

Hi I hope you all can help me. I seem to have picked up some sort of malware that blocks programs such as Spybot Search and Destroy and Malwarebytes-AntiMalware. When I try to run the program I get a "wait" curser and then nothing. I have checked the processes list and found Sbybot on that list, but it is not running. I thought reinstalling Spybot might fix that but it did not.

I cannot open sites such as http://www.safer-networking.org, and http://www.malwarebytes.org. The browser just gets redirected to either a search page or I get a "Page Cannot be Found" error.

I also am not able to run the McAfee Virtual Technitian.

I have spent hours on the phone with tech suppoert from AT&T and McAfee.

Any assistance you can ofer will be greatly appreciated.
