Vundo Attack

Unread postby Feithid » March 7th, 2009, 9:59 pm

Hi,

For the last while, I've been having AVG pop-ups warning me of the Vundo variation of the Virtumonde virus, and have tried to eradicate the problem myself. It appears that I was able to rid myself of it, but it managed to download some other virii on to my computer. These in turn have managed to bring back Vundo on to my computer, much to my frustration. I've tried to find any solution from previous posts made on this forum regarding Vundo, however, from my own experience with it, it looks to me that there are so many answers to this problem, most to no avail. I've also noticed that it's customary on this forum to post logs from HijackThis, but from what I've heard there is a possibility of getting the BSoD if you use HT on said virus. Or maybe not. Anyways, I was hoping that you could help me rid of this damn thing? I've tried booting in Safe Mode (didn't help at all) and it also looks like I've gotten some other pop-up virii too. I understand that this is a particularly hard virus to rid, and that my total lack of experience and help certainly won't help. I'll try to post any requested/required information as soon as possible.

Thanks in advance, and again sorry my lack of experience.

In order for us to help you it is necessary that you provide us with a HijackThis log. A HijackThis log, as well as other logs that may be requested, provide us with a guideline for removing whatever malware is infecting your system. We cannot proceed without such logs for guidance.

Please follow the guideline at the link below to start a new topic and post your HijackThis log. If you are unable to create and post a HijackThis log, then your only option may be to reformat your computer and reinstall the operating system.

This topic is now closed. Please start a new topic by following the HijackThis Guideline posted here: >Guideline for posting your HijackThis log<
