Malware Help Please

Unread postby SJD5006 » January 24th, 2009, 12:32 pm

I apologize but I posted this about a week ago and then went on vacation to Las Vegas where the price for internet was outrageous. I did not have the means to respond so I hope you guys will still help me. I will just put my original post back up. Thanks ahead of time. I promise a prompt response.

Hello,
I have searched around about the problem that I have with my comp and I believe it is a Malware problem. I was lead here so I hope you guys can help. I think it has happened to other people but would rather follow explicit directions. Heres the problem.

I clicked on a link masked as my virus scanner. Since, random windows have been popping up, many of which with the same beggining url (hxxp: //sagipsul.com). It doesnt matter what type of browser I have open or if I dont have browsers open at all, pop ups will continue to come. I have ran avg and an adware removal and they seem less frequent, but still occur. Thanks ahead of time for your help. Here is my log.

Hello and welcome to Malware Removal.

My name is peku006 and I will be helping you to remove any infection(s) that you may have.
I will be giving you a series of instructions that need to be followed in the order in which I give them to you.

Please observe these rules while we work:
  • If you don't know, stop and ask! Don't keep going on.
  • Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
  • Please continue to respond until I give you the "All Clear"

If you follow these instructions, everything should go smoothly.

1 - Scan With ComboFix

We will begin with ComboFix.exe. Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

* Ensure you have disabled all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

How to Temporarily Disable Anti-virus

Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply for further review.

2 - Run Hijackthis
Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad

3 - Status Check
Please reply with

1. the ComboFix log(C:\ComboFix.txt)
2. a fresh HijackThis log

Thanks peku006

Here are both Logs. Sorry for the late reply. After I ran the first one I had difficulties getting online. I doubt it has anything to do with it but that is why it has takes so long.

Hi SJD5006

1 - Remove bad HijackThis entries
  • Run HijackThis
  • Click on the Scan button
  • Put a check beside all of the items listed below (if present):

      O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [98d4f787] rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\glcmjaea.dll",b
      O4 - Startup: iWin Desktop Alerts.lnk = C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\iWin Games\DesktopAlerts\DesktopAlerts.exe
      O20 - AppInit_DLLs: WIKI.DLL xidfvd.dll

  • Close all open windows and browsers/email, etc...
  • Click on the "Fix Checked" button
  • When completed, close the application.

2 - Run CFScript

1. Close any open browsers.

2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

3. Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

File::
C:\WINDOWS\system32\glcmjaea.dll

Folder::
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\iWin Games

Save this as "CFScript.txt", and as Type: All Files (*.*) in the same location as ComboFix.exe

Image

Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe

When finished, it shall produce a log for you at C:\ComboFix.txt which I will require in your next reply.

3 - Run Hijackthis
Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad

4 - Status Check
Please reply with

1. the ComboFix log(C:\ComboFix.txt)
2. a fresh HijackThis log

Thanks peku006

Hi again,
I am having a bunch of issues and I hope you can help me out. First, when I ran hijack this, O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [98d4f787] rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\glcmjaea.dll",b did not show up on my list. There was one that had everything the same except the ending. The \glcmjaea.dll part was different. I didnt know If I should still get rid of it or not. Secondly, I followed all the instructions on running combofix, but when I drug the notepad file into combofix, I get the following error...."prep.com has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience". Therefore, I cannot finish the instructions you have given. PLease give me some guidance if possible. Thanks in advance.

do not worry , we will see what there is
I get the following error...."prep.com has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience"

I have never seen it before
We may have to work without combofix.

Uninstall combofix;
Go to to Start > Run
Type in box

combofix /u

Due to lack of response, this topic is now closed.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Infected? Virus, malware, adware, ransomware, oh my! forum, include a fresh FRST log, and wait for a new helper.
