Norton & other Antivirus can't connect to Internet.

Unread postby Sharp » January 13th, 2009, 2:31 pm

This started about a week ago, Norton 360 shut down for no reason and does not run in the system tray/run when I click the program or connect to the internet. I ran various Anti-Malware programs to find what was the cause of this but, they did not fix the problem as well as all of the Anti-Malware programs are unable to connect to the internet to update. I reformatted my computer and started over. Unfortunately it appears that it has come back and none of the programs are able to find what is the problem.

What can I do to solve this problem?

Welcome Sharp

Apologies for the late reply. As you can appreciate the boards are quite busy. If you still require help with your computer problem could you do the following:

Random's System Information Tool (RSIT)
  • Download Random's System Information Tool (RSIT) by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on RSIT.exe to run the tool
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen
  • Once it has finished, two logs will open, log.txt (<<will be maximized) and info.txt (<<will be minimized)
  • Copy & paste the contents of both logs in your next reply
If info.txt does not minimise to the Task Bar, you will find it in C:\rsit

Well what I did over a week ago was a system restore, that I was unable to do the 1st time this problem occurred since the change in the new year. So far I have not had any problems.

Thanks anyway for the help, I will definitely post at this forum again if I ever run into that problem again.
