Hello and Welcome to forums!

My name is Bio-Hazard and I will be helping you to remove any infection(s) that you may have.

Please observe these rules while we work:

  • I will be working on your Malware issues this may or may not solve other issues you have with your machine.
  • The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.
  • I f you don't know or understand something please don't hesitate to ask.
  • Please DO NOT run any other tools or scans whilst I am helping you.
  • It is important that you reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
  • Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.

NOTE: Your security programs may give warnings for some of the tools I will ask you to use. Be assured, any links I give are safe

Could you please post a new Hijackthis log for me to see as you have done something in between.

Thank you very much for responding! This has been a thorn in my side! I have litterly tried most things that have been offered up as advice on the internet from what I've found. If you get this off of my computer and I'm able to do searches again on Google and Yahoo without being redirected, you will official be the KING OF COMPUTERS in my mind.

Following is a log that was just run. I will follow your instructions to a T and will do nothing else unless instructed by you.

Hello!

This is going to take few steps to sort out. Your HijackThis log doesnt show anything obvious.

Could you tell me what sites does it redirect you?
Are you using a router?

Update Java Runtime and Run JavaRa

    Download Java Runtime
  • Go to HERE to download Java Runtime Environment Version 6 Update 11
  • Click on the link named Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 11
  • Click on the radio button to Accept License Agreement
  • Click on Windows Offline Installation Multi-language and save the downloaded file to your desktop

    Run JavaRa
  • Please download JavaRa and unzip it to your desktop.
  • Double-click on JavaRa.exe to start the program.
  • From the drop-down menu, choose English and click on Select.
  • JavaRa will open; click on Remove Older Versions to remove the older versions of Java installed on your computer.
  • Click Yes when prompted. When JavaRa is done, a notice will appear that a logfile has been produced. Click OK.
  • A logfile will pop up. Please save it to a convenient location.

    Install Java
  • Install the new version of Java by running the newly-downloaded file ( jre-6u11-windows-i586-p.exe) with the java icon which will be at your desktop, and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Reboot your computer

random's system information tool (RSIT)

  • Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.

Re: Google search displaying weird search results

Unread postby T. Defense » January 4th, 2009, 3:44 pm

I'm using a Router for the rest of the house but the router is based from where this computer is, as this is our main computer.

Here is an example of what I'm getting. As an example I did a simple search for Thomas Jefferson. Here is the results

As you can see the actual search results are ligit but the links have nothing to do with what you seached for. This pretty much renders our searching ability, I've used things like DogPile and Ask but I prefer Google.

I will start completing the tasks that you requested and post my results to you.

Thank You

Everything is going well except when I run RSIT.exe I get this

Auto It Error
Line-1
Error: Error Parsing Function Call

It happens when it's in the middle of a Registry Dump.

Please advise.

Following is the Javara Log and I answered your questions in the previous response before I read your entire post (Sorry, I will read the whole thing prior to posting next time)

Dowloaded fine, after selecting your options I selected run scan and this came up...

Error Loading Process Libraries

Then this...............

Invalid Class String

It wouldn't do anything then.

Hello!

Sorry to hear about your problems with the tools. Lets try this.

Download and Run ComboFix

We will begin with ComboFix.exe. Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool:

HOW TO USE COMBOFIX

IMPORTANT: combofix.exe MUST be on your Desktop for us to proceed.

Please continue as follows:
  • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe and follow the prompts.
  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

NOTE: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Image

  • Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

    Image

  • Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.
  • Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.

Combofix should never take more that 20 minutes including the reboot if malware is detected.

Please reply with:

Run CFScript

  • Close any open browsers.
  • Open Notepad by click start
  • Click Run
  • Type notepad into the box and click enter
  • Notepad will open
  • Copy and Paste everything from the Code box into Notepad:

Code: Select all
Registry::
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\drivers32]
"aux"=-
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\winlogon]
"System"=""

Save this as CFScript.txt, in the same location as ComboFix.exe (on your desktop)

Image

Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe

When finished, it shall produce a log for you at C:\ComboFix.txt

NOTE: Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall it.

ATF-Cleaner

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.

  • Save it to your desktop
  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Under Main choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.

    If you use Firefox browser
  • Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.

NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords please click No at the prompt.
  • Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Kaspersky Online Scan

Please go to Kaspersky website and perform an online antivirus scan.

Note: If you are using Windows Vista, open your browser by right-clicking on its icon and select 'Run as administrator' to perform this scan.

  • Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
  • It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
  • When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
  • Make sure these boxes are checked (ticked). If they are not, please tick them and click on the Save button:
    • Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and other potentially dangerous programs
    • Archives
  • Click on My Computer under Scan.
  • Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.
  • You will see a list of infected items there. Click on Save Report As....
  • Save this report to a convenient place. Change the Files of type to Text file (.txt) before clicking on the Save button.
  • Please post this log in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.
