Still need help with Fraud-type Trojan infections

Hello,

I know you're all probably busy, and, heck, it's Christmas. I hope you’re enjoying family, good food, time off, or whatever Christmas means to you.

Since my original post on the 21st, my machine "recovered from a serious error," after a series of troubleshooting and tinkering prompted by a black screen on start up, then couldn't get it to power up at all.

Firefox has mysteriously updated after a silent crash (none of the usual warnings) - when I had auto updates turned off - and I lost all my settings and passwords… non-critical passwords, stored elsewhere, but very disconcerting nonetheless. I have since updated FF from version 1.5 to 3.0.

Programs continue to hang for minutes at a time, particularly when browsing.

I’m afraid to do any online shopping, bill paying or banking.

Whenever it works for you, I sure could use some help.

Thanks in advance, and

Merry Christmas to All
