Hi,

We need to DISABLE SpyBots TeaTimer as it may interfere with the fix.

  • Open Spybot Search & Destroy
  • Go to the Mode menu, and make sure "Advanced Mode" is selected
  • On the left hand side, choose Tools -> Resident
  • Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts
  • Exit SpyBot

Please do the following...

1. Start Malwarebytes
  • Select the Update tab and click on Check for Updates.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. please copy and paste the log into your next reply
    • If you accidently close it, the log file is saved here and will be named like this:
    • C:\\Documents and Settings\\Username\\Application Data\\Malwarebytes\\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\\Logs\\mbam-log-date (time).txt
2. I need to see another log from HijackThis.
  • Run Hijackthis.
  • Click on Open the Misc Tools section.
  • Next click on Open uninstall manager.
  • Press the Save list button.
  • Save the file to your desktop, with the default name of uninstall_list
  • Copy & Paste the entire contents of that file in your in your next post.
3. Please post the following...

Uninstall list
Malwarebytes log
New HijackThis log

Unread postby Trogan » December 24th, 2008, 8:29 pm

Hi,

Please do the following...

1. Click Start > Run > type in appwiz.cpl and hit enter. From the list uninstall the following, if present:

J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
Java(TM) 6 Update 2
Java(TM) 6 Update 3
Java(TM) 6 Update 5
SearchAssist

There are newer versions of these two programs, if you want to donwload them. If you download Spybot, make sure TeaTimer is disabled as mentioned in my initial post.
Ad-Aware
Spybot - Search & Destroy

2. Now download and install Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 11.

3. Download ComboFix from one of these locations:

Link 1
Link 2
Link 3

* IMPORTANT!!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop
  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools See HERE for help
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.
**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Image

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply, along with a new HijackThis log.

By the way, before you had responded the first time, I ran a Kaspersky check. I deleted 6 files that were in my old emails that had trojans on them. Since then, I haven't had a problem.

Hi,

That's good! Logs are looking clear, just a little left to do.

-------------------------

Please fo the following...

1. Click Start > Run > type in appwiz.cpl and hit enter. From the list uninstall the following, if present:

Coupons or Coupons and Offers <-- if you did not download or install these, remove them.

2. Find and delete the following folder in RED...

C:\program files\Coupons <--

3. I'd like a file scanned...
  • Using Internet Explorer, go to VirusTotal
  • Copy and paste the following file path into the Search Box in the middle of the page:
    • c:\windows\Tasks\erblatfp.job
  • Now click on the Send File button
      NOTE:
    • If you come to the "File has already been analysed:" page, select "Reanalyse file now" to get a fresh scan.
  • Save a copy of the Anti-Virus results only.
Post the results in back here.

Due to lack of response, this topic is now closed.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Infected? Virus, malware, adware, ransomware, oh my! forum, include a fresh FRST log, and wait for a new helper.
