Hello Clorinsk,

Note about poker games:

You have PartyPoker on your computer, but I think it's important to note that often these kind of programs are installed with other unwanted software, namely spyware or adware. If you did not install these programs yourself, or you do not use them any more, I would definitely recommend that you uninstall them from your computer, even if it is simply a precautionary measure. The amount of different poker software which arises on the internet means it is impossible to keep track of which ones are infected and which ones are not. If you do use the software, and wish to continue doing so, please ignore this. If you do decide to go ahead and remove the poker software, you should be able uninstall them via add/remove which can be found in the control panel. Let me know if you have any problems whilst doing so.
Here are links to some poker sites regarded as safe for your reference.

Hi,

I had not realised that VirusTotal changed its setup. Can you scan the file again, but this time select "Reanalyse file now" to get a fresh report. Post the results back here please.

Please do the following...

1. Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update to the latest version...

Updating Java:
  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 update7.
  • Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications."
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement."
  • The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove the following...
    • Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.0_03
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u7-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version.
2. Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. please copy and paste the log into your next reply
    • If you accidently close it, the log file is saved here and will be named like this:
    • C:\\Documents and Settings\\Username\\Application Data\\Malwarebytes\\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\\Logs\\mbam-log-date (time).txt
3. Please post the following...

Hi! Thanks for the logs.

I see you have run Kaspersky online scanner before, but I would like a new scan.

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner

Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner

You will be promted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.

Note for Internet Explorer 7 users: If at any time you have trouble with the accept button of the licence, click on the Zoom tool located at the right bottom of the IE window and set the zoom to 75 %. Once the license accepted, reset to 100%.
  • The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
  • Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
  • Now click on Scan Settings
  • In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
    • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
      Extended (if available otherwise Standard)
    • Scan Options:
      Scan Archives
      Scan Mail Bases

  • Click OK
  • Now under select a target to scan:
      Select My Computer
  • This will program will start and scan your system.
  • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
  • Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
    • Now click on the Save Report As button:
    • Change Save as type: to Text file
    • Save this as Kaspersky scan to your Desktop
  • Post the Kaspersky report, along with a new HijackThis log in your next reply.

I cannot access Kaspersky (not on IE or firefox). Is there another program I can use instead?

The pop-ups have actually gotten worse since we started. Here's another HiJack This Log if that helps:

Re: My HijackThis Log

Unread postby Trogan » September 28th, 2008, 11:26 pm

Hi,

You have somehow managed to pick up malware that wasn't present before. Please avoid dubious websites and programs.

Update Malwarebytes and run a new full system scan. Save the log and post it back here, along with a new HijackThis log.

Hi,

Please Visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running ComboFix:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first.

The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode. This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

Once installed, you should see a blue screen prompt that says:

The Recovery Console was successfully installed.

Please continue as follows:
  1. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
  2. Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.
When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.

Please include the following reports for further review, and so we may continue cleansing the system:

Hi,

The Recovery Console is not installed.

Please do the following to download and install the recovery console...

If you have XP Home, download this file to your Desktop. Do not install just yet.
Or, if you have XP Professional, download this file to your Desktop. Do not install just yet.

If you are unsure what version of Windows (Home or Professional) you have, you can follow these instructions to gain that information.

1. Click on the Start button.
2. Click on the Run menu option.
3. In the Open: field type the following: sysdm.cpl and then click on the OK button.
4. A screen will appear showing information about your installation. Under the System: category you should see your Windows version (Home or Professional). When you are done determining this information continue with below.

After doing the above, continue with the instructions at Bleeping Computer starting at point 3. This will install the Recovery Console and produce a new ComboFix log.

Let me know if you need further help.

Due to lack of response, this topic is now closed.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Infected? Virus, malware, adware, ransomware, oh my! forum, include a fresh FRST log, and wait for a new helper.
