MicroAv, sytemerrorfixer ...

Unread postby DThorpe » September 21st, 2008, 10:08 am

Hello,

If someone could help me eliminate the malware I have been trying to eliminate unsuccesfully I would greatly appreciate the help. The known pop-ups that I have found are MicroAv, systemerrorfixer and I think the third is registry Defender. I use Windows XP with IE7. have tried to use AdAware and fixIDef, MS Defender, and Comodo so far with no luck. The lack of results may be a reflection of my ability and knowledge and not the programs I have tried.
Thankou in advance for any help and guidance you can provide.

Here is the HijackThisLog that I have run.

No, unfortunately it didn't go right.

Also, your HijackThis is outdated so let's do this:

  • Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
  • Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
  • Click on Install.
  • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
  • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis. Close it.
  • Navigate here using Windows Explorer (windows button + E) or My Computer -> Local Disk C: -> C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis
  • Right-click on the HijackThis.exe
  • Choose from the pull-down menu; "Rename"
  • And now Rename HijackThis.exe to DThorpe.exe
  • Re-open HijackThis.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
  • DO NOT use the AnalyseThis button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
  • DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
