smadams9602,
It is certain that the files and folder for "The Shield Deluxe 2008" are now gone.
There is still an "orphaned" entry for the Service which we will remove here.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Stop, Disable and Delete A Service
Go to Start, Run OR Start, Programs, Accessories, Command Prompt and type Services.msc and click OK.
Under the Extended Tab, Scroll down and find the service.

The Shield Deluxe 2008

Click once on the service to highlight it.
Right-Click on the service. Click on Properties
Select the General tab. Write down the name it gives at the top as Service Name. Should be AVP, but maybe not.
Next to Service Status, click Stop if it's not already Stopped.
Click the Arrow-down tab on the right-hand side of the Start-up Type box.
From the drop-down menu, click on Disabled
Click Apply , then OK

Delete the Service
Open HiJackThis. Click on Config, Misc Tools, Delete an NT Service
Type AVP in the space provided and click OK <== type AVP or the exact name you saw as Service Name
The program will ask you to REBOOT --- Accept.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Do you use the CD R/W types to store information? These are the ones you have to format first, and can be erased and re-used.
If you don't, and you just use CD-R types like I do (burn once only), then we will remove the InCD Service.
You can still format the CD-RW types from Start, Programs.
InCD has been buggy.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Remove log items with HighjackThis. Start HijackThis.
Click Do System Scan Only. When the Scan is complete, Check the following entries:
(Some of these lines may be missing)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [HPBootOp] "C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\HP Boot Optimizer\HPBootOp.exe" /run
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [InCD] C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero 7\InCD\InCD.exe
<== check this one if you don't use the special CD-RW disks
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_06\bin\jusched.exe"
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Yahoo! Pager] "C:\PROGRA~1\Yahoo!\MESSEN~1\YAHOOM~1.EXE" -quiet
<== check this one if you don't use Yahoo Messenger
Make sure Every other window except HJT is closed (No other tabs showing in the bottom tray), and Click Fix Checked
Click the "X" in the upper right corner of the HiJackThis window to close it.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Post a New HiJackThis Log
Reboot your computer. Start HijackThis
Click Do System Scan and Save a Log File.
When the Scan is complete, select the whole log (Ctrl-A), copy and paste the log contents in a reply.
Tell me how it's running, and about CD-RW's.

Askey 127,

Under services.msc there is only a blue square on the screen when i go under the extended tab. I do see the program when i go under the standard tab. I was wondering i'm i suppose to go under the standard tab instead.

Standard tab should be just as good to perform the changes. The standard tab is just the Windows 2000 View style.

askey127,

I ran into another problem. When I got to the drop down menu (startup type) and go to disabled and click apply, it tells me access denied. I also tried just clicking ok and it still said access denied.

If the AVP Service Disable and Removal doesn't work, please go ahead and do the rest of the instruction.
There may be a way to remove that leftover entry without making it a lifetime project. The service is not working, but the permissions somewhere have been played with to make the dead entry unremovable by the user.
Is it causing you any nuisance?

askey127,

I continued with the rest of the steps like you advise me to do. I was not able to do the step on HiJack This. After I typed AVP under delete an NT, I got the message the service AVP is enabled and/or runnimg. Delete it first using HiJack This itself (from the scan results) or the services.msc window. I did erase all the other items under HiJack This. I do not use CD RW so I deleted this item as well. I tried my computer and it is not slow and all the links are linking correctly but for some reason it is still not going to the next page on certain sites. When i click the arrow or the number it seems like it is not reading the command. Here is the log.

smadams9602,
Please Delete the Avenger folder from your desktop. It's too dangerous to leave there.

I don't see any malware on your system, and I don't think that dead service entry is worth the effort to remove.

I would add this one:
-----------------------------------------------------------
Install SpywareBlaster - SpywareBlaster will add a large list of programs and sites to your Internet Explorer settings that will protect you from accidentally running or downloading known malicious programs. Available from http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
After the installation, click Download Latest Protection Updates. When it finishes, click Enable All Protection.

If the IE problem persists, you may want to research it and consider re-installing IE7.
We have probably done what we can to clean up your system.

Before I go what Anti Virus do I need to keep up dated to help keep my computer clean. I know that we put several different programs on the computer when we where cleaning the computer so I am not sure the one or ones that I need to keep up dated. I would like to thank you for helping me with get rid of the viruses off my computer. I would also like to know how do i donate money to your the company. Once again thank you.
