Antivirus Xp 2008 Removal - Help Me for creamhb

Unread postby creamhb » June 24th, 2008, 10:24 am

im currently having this same exact problem as we speak, would you like me to do the same as you asked the previous user? :x

Edit: Please do not post in somebody elses thread. It does not get you help faster and makes for a lot of extra work for the moderators and Administrators. Even if you think that the problem is the same it is not at all given that this is the case. I have split off your post into its own thread.
Elrond.

Hello creamhb,

I will be assisting you with your malware issues.

  • Whatever repairs we make, are for fixing your computer problems only and by no means should be used on another computer.
  • Continue to respond to this thread until I give you the All Clean! If you have any question or you're stuck in there please reply it to me. I will try my best to help you!
  • Please bookmark or favourite this page. In case you need it as reference or etc.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
If you are using Windows Vista you must right click on the desktop icon and choose Run as Administrator all tools.
----------------------------------------------
Download and Run HijackThis
Download HJTInstall.exe to your Desktop.

  • Doubleclick HJTInstall.exe to install it.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
  • Click on Install.
  • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
  • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Copy/Paste the log to your next reply please.

Don't use the Analyse This button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
Don't have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

ok i ive tried to get rid of this using nod 32 and search & destroy

i believe it has removed the files or something because now im getting not found erros but all the shortcuts are still here.

whenever i restart my computer and login, i get a blue screen error, they always change so i dont keep log of what they say its always a different error. so i just hit escape and then my computer functions normal.....

also it has taken over my desktop, i cannot change the background image which it has replaced mine with its own
but not that has been removed too, but in the panel the option to change background image in the tab is gone. i think it tampered with my registry...

here is the screen shot...

Hello creamhb,

Your computer is infected by a backdoor. A backdoor gives intruders complete control of your computer, logs your keystrokes, steal personal information, etc.
This allows hackers to remotely control your computer, steal critical system information and Download and Execute files

Read some information about the backdoor here.

I would counsel you to disconnect this PC from the Internet immediately. If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it should contain any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation.

Though the Trojan has been identified and can be killed, because of it's backdoor functionality, your PC is very likely compromised and there is no way to be sure your computer can ever again be trusted. Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of Trojan, the best course of action would be a reformat and reinstall of the OS. Please read these for more information:

How Do I Handle Possible Identify Theft, Internet Fraud and CC Fraud?

When Should I Format, How Should I Reinstall

We can attempt to clean this machine but i can't guarantee that it will be 100% secure afterwards.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Please let us know what you have decided to do in your next post.

Hello creamhb,

Yes i can.

Please keep in mind this though:
Though the Trojan has been identified and can be killed, because of it's backdoor functionality, your PC is very likely compromised and there is no way to be sure your computer can ever again be trusted.

Upload a File to Jotti
Please visit http://virusscan.jotti.org/

Copy/paste this file and path into the white box at the top:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\lphcr97j0en9a.exe

Press Submit - this will submit the file for testing.
Please wait for all the scanners to finish then copy and paste the results in your next response.
----------------------------------------------
Please visit this webpage for instructions for downloading ComboFix at your DESKTOP :
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix
Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first.

Additional links to download the tool:
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
http://subs.geekstogo.com/ComboFix.exe

Note: The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode. This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

Once installed, you should see a blue screen prompt that says:

The Recovery Console was successfully installed.

Please continue as follows:
  • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
  • Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.
  • When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.
  • Please post the C:\ComboFix.txt along with a new HijackThis log so we may continue cleaning the system.
----------------------------------------------
Post back:
Jotti results.
Combofix report.
A new HijackThis log.
