welcome to malwareremoval forums

My name is Dan, and I will be helping you to remove any infection(s) that you may have.

Please note! that all instructions given are customised for this computer only, the tools used may cause damage if used on a computer with different infections.

Please observe these rules while we work:
  • Perform all actions in the order given.
  • If you don't know, stop and ask! Don't keep going on.
  • Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
  • Stick with it till you're given the all clear.
  • REMEMBER, ABSENCE OF SYMPTOMS DOES NOT MEAN THE INFECTION IS ALL GONE.
If you can do these things, everything should go smoothly.
  • Please note you'll need to have Administrator priviledges to perform the fixes. (XP accounts are Administrator by default)
  • Please let me know if you are using a computer with multiple accounts, as this can affect the instructions given.

Unless informed of in advance, failure to post replies within 5 days will result in this thread being closed.

It may be helpful to you to print out or take a copy of any instructions given, as sometimes it is necessary to go offline and you will lose access to them.

I'm presently looking over your log and hope not to be too long.
Will be back with you as soon as I can.
Thanks dan

AntiVirus
You have several AV's running, you're actually doing more harm than good by running more than one Anti Virus program.
When you do this the programs compete for resources, and the end result is none does it's best and can cause system instability.
I recommend that you choose one that you want to keep.
The other/s I would either uninstall, or disable from startup and use as "on demand" for an occasional scan.

Please note that almost all "free" security software is only free for home/private users

Let me know which you are going to remove as I may need to give you a tool to assist you.

That depends on you, if you have paid out for one, then keep it, although two of those are free programs which are both ok, when running on there own.
If you go with avg, avg8 is now available, which you can upgrade to once we are done.

This will help with the removal of mcafee
Please click HERE and follow the instructions to download and run the Mcafee removal tool

Let me have a HJT log when you have removed whichever programs your going to remove.

From what I can see it looks as though you have removed all protection now.
What I thought you might do was to hang on to avg7 then upgrade to avg8 when we are done.

It depends on what version of spyware doctor you have, as earlier versions were only anti spyware.
I believe v5.5 is the latest which is bundled with an antivirus program too.
I will await your returned log.

Can you describe the type of popups you are getting! are these the only problems your experiencing?
It will be tomorrow when I get back to you as I'm working at present and don't have access to my pc.
Any information regrading your issues will help, before we start to run a few scans.

the most freq one lately is -

a small box appears on screen with this detail -

windows-
WARNING: YOUR COMPUTER IS INFECTED
Ensure your document and data protection. Scan your computer to know if you are infected by spywares. Would you like to scan your computer now? (recommended)

When crossing the box out a full screen appears, labeled – Spyware secure (another one is labeled- windows security centre)
Asking if I want to scan my computer now, your antivirus is not efficient, warnings.

other pop ups that have came up since i've turned my computer on are -

~ Celldorado multiartist top 10 – windows internet explorer ~

and

http://www.sportsurveycentral.co.uk/?co ... 2125&media – windows internet explorer

Everthing else seems to be okay, its just the pop-ups that are really annoying.

  • Please download F-Secure Blacklight (fsbl.exe) from here
  • Save into C:\ with a name of fsbl.exe
  • Go to Start > Run
  • Copy and paste the contents of the below codebox into the run box
    Code: Select all
    C:\fsbl.exe /expert

  • Click OK
  • This will launch BlackLight
  • Select I accept the agreement
  • Click Next
  • Click Scan
  • Wait for the scan to finish
  • Click on Next>
  • Click Exit
  • A logfile will have been created in the C:\ drive
  • It will be named fsbl-xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.log where xxxxxxxxxxxxxx is the date and time of the scan
  • Use notepad to open that log
  • Post the contents of that log as a reply to this topic, along with a new HijackThis log
