Unread postby myvalk » April 25th, 2008, 5:21 pm

hi all. im a new member and only because my computer has been hijacked.

almost every time i open a folder or a web page.....B O O M ! a box pops up saying "your computer has been infected with a dangerous virus, click here to download an anti virus program". i didnt do it at first, knowing its a scam, but when i finally did, it brought me to a porno site, another time to google that was blank except for their company "malwarebellagreement.com", another time to google with some porno pix and their site. (by the way, i dont visit those sites, but my son does, so ive already blocked any more users but me.)
ive run several spyware and anti virus programs for two days to nop avail.

any ideas??? ( i hope)

thanx,

myvalk

Hi, again, the first thing we need to start off with is a HJT log. :)

Download and Run HijackThis
Download HJTInstall.exe to your Desktop.

* Doubleclick HJTInstall.exe to install it.
* By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
* Click on Install.
* It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
* Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
* Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
* Copy/Paste the log to your next reply please.

Don't use the Analyse This button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
Don't have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

please post new HJT log

Unread postby dan12 » April 25th, 2008, 6:18 pm

I see you have spyware doctor onbourd is it bundled with an a\v also? as I see you already have nod32.

Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)

Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe.
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

**If the tool fails to launch from the Desktop, please move SmitfraudFix.exe directly to the root of the system drive (usually C:), and launch from there.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

please post back with: text file and a new highjackthis log.

Hi, Fred, sorry for the delay but I wanted to check up on a file you have on the system, the identified infection is a backdoor trojan.

This allows hackers to remotely control your computer, steal critical system information and Download and Execute files

I would counsel you to disconnect this PC from the Internet immediately. If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it should contain any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation.

Though the Trojan has been identified and can be killed, because of it's backdoor functionality, your PC is very likely compromised and there is no way to be sure your computer can ever again be trusted. Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of Trojan, the best course of action would be a reformat and reinstall of the OS. Please read these for more information:

How Do I Handle Possible Identify Theft, Internet Fraud and CC Fraud?

When Should I Format, How Should I Reinstall

However, if you do not have the resources to reinstall your computer and would like me to attempt to clean it, I will be happy to do so.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Please let us know what you have decided to do in your next post.
