MRU Teacher was helping me and it could be we stopped our topic to soon. Here is our old thread.
viewtopic.php?f=12&t=29742&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=15
I got this virus warning last Sunday when I unchecked my "System Restore." The thought was that the anti-virus was just scanning old system restore points.

The system has worked fine for the past 3 days. Tonight I upgraded my Ad-Aware and reinstalled Skype. When I ran the "full" ad-aware scan the above antivirus screen came up twice. My highjackthis log is below. Any thoughts? Thanks!

When I ran the "full" ad-aware scan the above antivirus screen came up twice.

Hi

Excuse me but what screen are you talking about? Your hjt log looks good though Java needs updating.

Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update to the latest version...

Updating Java:
  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 6.
  • Scroll down to where it says
The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications.
  • Click the
    Download
    button to the right.
  • Select Windows on platform combobox and check the box that says:
    Accept License Agreement. Click continue.
  • The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u6-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version.

Thanks! Sorry for the confusion. I should have said the "window" in stead of "screen". My dynamic virus protection has a pop up window whenever viruses are detected. So, that is what popped up. I have updated my Java, and the system has been running fine with no virus warnings, so all looks good.

Any way to know if I get reinfected? I would assume my anti-virus would consistently bring up warnings even after "deletion" of the infected files like before. Thanks.

Yes, you get notification from your antivirus product in case it detects the infection.

But better way is to try stay safe from the infections. Please read this to know how you may be able to avoid them. :)

Thanks MRU Teacher. The reason I posted was because they popped up a few days after we had cleaned the system. But if the Hijack log is clean we'll let it go and hope they don't pop up again. I appreciate the help.
