Hi

Yes, but when you have installed ME?

You can try disable these via HijackThis:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MMTray] C:\Program Files\MusicMatch\MusicMatch Jukebox\mm_tray.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WorksFUD] C:\Program Files\Microsoft Works\wkfud.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Works Portfolio] C:\Program Files\Microsoft Works\WksSb.exe /AllUsers
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Works Update Detection] C:\Program Files\Microsoft Works\WkDetect.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Adaptec DirectCD] C:\Program Files\ADAPTEC\DIRECTCD\DIRECTCD.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\QTTASK.EXE" -atboottime
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MoneyAgent] "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money\System\Money Express.exe"
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Yahoo! Pager] "C:\PROGRAM FILES\YAHOO!\MESSENGER\YAHOOMESSENGER.EXE" -quiet
O4 - HKUS\.DEFAULT\..\Run: [MoneyAgent] "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money\System\Money Express.exe" (User 'Default user')
O4 - HKUS\.DEFAULT\..\Run: [Yahoo! Pager] "C:\PROGRAM FILES\YAHOO!\MESSENGER\YAHOOMESSENGER.EXE" -quiet (User 'Default user')

Reboot and let me know if that helped :)

ME came with my computer when I bought it in 1999 or 2000. What is the procedure to disable these programs?

Hi

I see.

So if your computer is like 7-8 years old and original installation of ME it surely can be slow.

Open HijackThis, click do a system scan only and checkmark those entries.

Close all windows including browser and press fix checked.

Due to lack of response this topic is now closed.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Infected? Virus, malware, adware, ransomware, oh my! forum, include a fresh FRST log, and wait for a new helper.
