Hello Swanny,

I will be assisting you with your malware issues.
Please be patient as I need some time to review your Hijackthis log and i will post back recommendations for repairs.

As I am still a trainee, everything that I post to you, must be checked by an Admin or Moderator. Thus, there may be a tiny bit of a delay between posts, but it shouldn't be too long.

  • Whatever repairs we make, are for fixing your computer problems only and by no means should be used on another computer.
  • Continue to respond to this thread until I give you the All Clean! If you have any question or you're stuck in there please reply it to me. I will try my best to help you!
  • Please bookmark or favourite this page. In case you need it as reference or etc.

Hello Swanny,
Thanks in Advance, but i think i have a Trojan and a WORM ,please could you look please..

No such indication in your reports. Why do you think you have a Trojan or worm?
-----------------------------------------------
You have AVG7 free Anti-Virus installed and Comodo Firewall.

I've noticed also that you have NETGATE-Spy Emergency 2007 installed. Did you buy it?
I believe it contains Anti-Virus and a firewall. If you didn't buy it, better uninstall it.

You can't have 2 antivirusses, and 2 Firewall applications on the same pc.
-----------------------------------------------
FIX HIJACKTHIS ENTRIES

Open up Hijackthis.
Click on do a system scan only.
Place a checkmark next to these lines(if still present).

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {B7FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085E1} - (no file)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: AutorunsDisabled - C:\WINDOWS\

Then close all windows except Hijackthis and click Fix Checked
Close HijackThis.
-----------------------------------------------
Run Kaspersky Online AV Scanner
Using Internet Explorer Go to http://www.kaspersky.com/kos/eng/partner/default/kavwebscan.html and click the Accept button at the end of the page.
Note for Internet Explorer 7 users: If at any time you have trouble with the accept button of the licence, click on the Zoom tool located at the right bottom of the IE window and set the zoom to 75 %. Once the license accepted, reset to 100%.
  • Read the Requirements and limitations before you click Accept.
  • Allow the ActiveX download if necessary.
  • Once the database has downloaded, click Next.
  • Click Scan Settings and change the "Scan using the following antivirus database" from standard to extended and then click OK.
  • Click on "My Computer" and then put the kettle on!
  • When the scan has completed, click Save Report As...
  • Enter a name for the file in the Filename: text box and then click the down arrow to the right of Save as type: and select text file (*.txt)
  • Click Save - by default the file will be saved to your Desktop, but you can change this if you wish.
Copy and paste the report into your next reply along with a fresh HJT log and a description of how your PC is behaving
-----------------------------------------------
Post back:
Kaspersky report.
A new HijackThis log.
Let me know about NETGATE-Spy Emergency 2007.

Hello Swanny,

I do not know how you uninstalled NETGATE-Spy Emergency 2007 it's still there.
We have to remove NETGATE so Spy-Emergency 2007 can go. Hopefully you don't use any other programs from NETGATE. If you do, do not remove the NETGATE folder, just let me know what NETGATE PRODUCTS you have.

Go to Start-Settings-Control Panel, click on Add remove Programs. If any of the following programs are listed there, click on the program to highlight it, and click on remove. Then close the Control Panel.

    NETGATE
------------------------------------------------
Disable Win Patrol

Right-click on Winpatrol icon on task bar and click on exit, to temporary disable the program.
------------------------------------------------
FIX HIJACKTHIS ENTRIES

Open up Hijackthis.
Click on do a system scan only.
Place a checkmark next to these lines(if still present).

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present
<< fix this line if you didn't set this restriction by yourself.

Then close all windows except Hijackthis and click Fix Checked
Close HijackThis.
------------------------------------------------
Download OTMoveIt by OldTimer to your Desktop.
  • Double click OTMoveIt.exe to launch it.
  • Copy/Paste the contents of the box below into the left hand pane of OTMoveIt.
    NOTE:
If you use other NETGATE products except Spy Emergency 2007, do not include C:\Program Files\NETGATE when you copy/paste the lines below, into the OTMoveIt box. Just copy/paste the other 2 lines.
C:\Program Files\NETGATE
C:\WINDOWS\pics14.zip
C:\WINDOWS\system32\NTSpool.exe

  • Click the Move It button.
  • The list will be processed and the results will appear in the right hand pane.
  • If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.
  • When finished click Exit to exit the program.
  • A log C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles\mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log will be created (where mmddyyyy_hhmmss are numbers giving date and time the log was created).
  • Post the log back here please.
------------------------------------------------
Post back:
A new HijackThis log, and tell me how the pc is behaving now.
Inform me about any other NETGATE products you are using.

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [SpyEmergency] "C:\Program Files\NETGATE\Spy Emergency 2007\SpyEmergency.exe"

Then close all windows except Hijackthis and click Fix Checked
Close HijackThis.

Hello Swanny,

Everything must be running ok now. :)
-----------------------------------------------
Update Java Runtime:

You are using an old version of Java. Sun's Java is sometimes updated in order to eliminate the exploitation of vulnerabilities in an existing version. For this reason, it's extremely important that you keep the program up to date, and also remove the older more vulnerable versions from your system. The most current version of Sun Java is: Java Runtime Environment Version 6 Update 4.
  • Go to http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp
  • Click on the link named Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 4
  • Click on the radio button to Accept License Agreement
  • Click on Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language and save the downloaded file to your hard disk
  • Go to Start => Control Panel => Add or Remove Programs
  • Uninstall all old versions of Java (Java 3 Runtime Environment, JRE or JSE)
  • Reboot your computer
  • Delete the folder C:\Program Files\Java if present
  • Install the new version by running the newly-downloaded file, and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Reboot your computer
-----------------------------------------------
Let's clear out the programs we've been using to clean up your computer, they are not suitable for general malware removal and could cause damage if used inappropriately.
Download OTMoveIt by OldTimer to your Desktop.
  • Double click OTMoveIt.exe to launch it.
  • Click on the CleanUp! button.
  • OTMoveIt will download a list from the Internet, if your firewall or other defensive programs alerts you, allow it access.
  • You will be prompted to allow the clean up procedure, click Yes
  • When finished exit out of OTMoveIt
  • Now delete OTMoveIt.exe (if still present)
-----------------------------------------------
Congratulations you are clean! :)
Now that you are clean, please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:

This is a good time to clear your existing system restore points and establish a new clean restore point:
  • Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore
  • Select Create a restore point, and Ok it.
  • Next, go to Start > Run and type in cleanmgr
  • Select the More options tab
  • Choose the option to clean up system restore and OK it.
This will remove all restore points except the new one you just created.

Here are some free programs I recommend that could help you improve your computer's security.
