Hello crgordo,

Welcome to the MRU forums.

Sorry it has taken so long for someone to reply. As you might've noticed, we are very busy here and often there just are not enough of us to go around. Additionally, this is predominantly a teaching site and occasionally someone's post will slip through the cracks. :(

My name is SpotCheckBilly and I would be happy to help you. If you still require assistance, please post a fresh HijackThis log so that we can have the most current and up-to-date data to work with.

I look forward to your reply :wave:

Hello crgordo,

===Very Important===

The instructions in this thread have been specifically designed for THIS USER'S MACHINE ONLY . You should not use these instructions to clean your machine. Doing so could cause irreparable damage to your machine. If you need assistance, please start your own thread.
=================

No problem, I'm just sorry we couldn't get to you quicker. :)

There are a couple of things you should be aware of as we go along here. The first is -- be patient -- this is probably the most important piece of advice because these infections can be very stubborn and often take several passes to get rid of completely. Second, please don't run any scans or other tools unless I ask you to do so. Unintentionally "fixing" the wrong thing can be disastrous.

That being said, let's get underway. :)

Please download FindAWF and save it to your desktop

  • Double-click FindAWF.exe to start the tool.
  • Select option #1 - Scan for bak folders by typing 1 and press 'Enter'
  • When the tool has completed, a report will open up in notepad. Please post the results of the awf.txt here.

**Do not run any other option unless directed to do so.**

Create a startuplist please.
  • Launch Hijackthis
  • Click Config button
  • Click Misc Tools
  • Check both boxes next to Generate StartupList log
  • Click Generate Startuplist Log button.

In your next reply please include:

  • The findawf.txt contents.
  • The Startup List from HijackThis.
  • A fresh HijackThis log
