Hello,

I attempted to create a restore point. And it asked for a description. And the start, run menu didn't have a tab that said more options.

Please advise.

Many Thanks!

Hi Kaypo.

For creating a restore point, Try this instead:

The file ccsvchst.exe is related to Norton AntiVirus. What version of Norton do you have? If you have Norton 2007 run LiveUpdate and look for any COH updates. If they are there, download them. Once the process has finished, reboot your computer and tell me if that solves the problem.

If you haven't already deleted SmitFraudFix from your computer (SmitfraudFix.exe) please do so and download the latest version from here and follow the instructions below:

Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe.
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

**If the tool fails to launch from the Desktop, please move SmitfraudFix.exe directly to the root of the system drive (usually C:), and launch from there.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

Also post a fresh HiJackThis log for me to look at.

Thanks :)

Hi Kaypo.

Both your SmitFraudFix and HiJackThis logs came back clean. Is Spybot telling you that you are infected with SmitFraud? Run a scan with SpyBot S&D (make sure it is fully updated before you run the scan) and tell me if it tells you are infected with SmitFraud.

Step # 1: Run Kaspersky Online Scan
Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner

Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner

Click Accept

You will be promted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky,
Click Yes.

  • The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
  • Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
  • Now click on Scan Settings
  • In the scan settings make sure that the following are selected:

    • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:

      Extended (if available otherwise Standard)

    • Scan Options:

      Scan Archives Scan Mail Bases
  • Click OK
  • Now under select a target to scan:

      Select My Computer
  • The program will start and scan your system.
  • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
  • Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.

    • Now click on the Save as Text button:
  • Once finished, save the log to your Desktop as filename KAV.txt

Step # Post Logs

In your next post/reply, I'd like to see the following:

    1. SpyBot scan results
    2. Kaspersky log (KAV.txt)

If you can't fit all the logs into one post/reply, then use multiple posts/replies to get all the logs in.
