Hellow tanadin, and welcome to Malware Removal!

I have some bad news!

Your computer is infected by a dangerous backdoor Trojan. This can give intruders complete control of your computer, logging key strokes, stealing information, etc. :(

You are strongly advised to do the following immediately!:
  • Disconnect infected computer from the internet and from any networked computers until the computer can be cleaned.
  • Call all of your banks, credit card companies, financial institutions and inform them that you may be a victim of identity theft and to put a watch on your accounts or change all your account numbers.
  • From a clean computer, change *all* of your online passwords -- for ISP login, email, banks, financial accounts, PayPal, eBay, online companies, and any online forums or groups you belong to.
Do NOT change passwords or do any transactions while using the infected computer because the attacker will get the new passwords and transaction information.
Because of its backdoor functionality, your PC is very likely compromised and there is no way to be sure it can ever again be trusted. Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of Trojan, the best course of action would be a reformat and reinstall of the OS. However, if you do not have the resources to reinstall your OS and would like me to attempt to clean your machine, I will be happy to do so.

To help you make a more informed decision, please read the following articles:

Should you have any questions, please feel free to ask

Please let me know your decision and we'll get started with clean up if that's what you choose.

Actually I got this virus from a thumb drive. I don't even know what the name is, because normally I'd go online and search for the keyword on how to remove it.

By the way, I don't have any private information in except emails, web provider account. Do you think I need to format ? I got 4 computers plus my laptop in the company which are infected by virus and I've no idea what virus are they. I've formatted all other 4 pcs but it seems to me that they still have virus. Below I'll post the hijackthis log on each computer. Please check if there are still any virus in it. All my computers and my laptop and connected to internet via an intranet network. If there're any problems, please let me know the step I have to make. Please let me know as well on how to clean up the virus.

Please advise are these computers infected with the same virus as the previous post ? I've do scanning with AVG Anti Virus on these PCs and the only detected worm is Autoit.Ae which is all the .exe files with the name of every folder inside it.

Thank you

Hi Tanadin,

Lets deal with one computer/HijackThis log at a time, or we will all be confused. We will deal with the HijackThis log in the first post.

Please do the following...

Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
  • Choose your usual account.
  • Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  • When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
  • Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum with a new HijackThis log

Hi Tanadin; good job!

Please do the following...

1. I don't see any indication of a Firewall in your HijackThis log. This may be because:

(1.) You are using Windows Firewall or a hardware Firewall.
(2.) You are using a Firewall of an unknown vendor.
(3.) You are using a Firewall, but it is disabled for unknown reasons
(4.) You don't use any firewall at all.

In the case you don't have a Firewall, please download one from the list below - They are Free!

Comodo
Zone Alarm
Sunbelt Kerio PF
Outpost Firewall

2. Open HijackThis
- Click the Do a system scan only button
- Check the following entries (below)

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)

- Close ALL open windows (especially Internet Explorer!)
- Click Fix Checked
Close HiajckThis

3. Please do an online scan with Panda ActiveScan

- Once you are on the Panda site, click the Scan your PC button
- A new window will open...click the Check Now button
- Enter your Country
- Enter your State/Province
- Enter your e-mail address and click send
- Select either Home User or Company
- Click the big Scan Now button
- If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
- It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
- When download is complete, click on Local Disks to start the scan
- When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location.

Post the contents of the Panda scan report, along with a new HijackThis Log

Hi tanadin,

The HijackThis log and Panda report are clean. You can delete SDFix and the C:\SDFix folder now.

How is the computer? If there are no more problems with this computer, you can post a new HijackThis from another computer on your network...but one at time please. :)

Thank you very much Trogan. The computer is working with normal speed already. Before that, it tends to slow down quite often. Anyway, I realize that there's no way we can be sure if the trojan can come back again. Please let me know what line should I look for in Hijack This log in case I find something wrong with my computer.

By the way, here's another log file from another computer (the source computer that's infected the first time). I've formatted the C: drive (system drive). But left the D: drive (data drive). I still found some unknown file with ext .exe in D: drive. Just that I can delete it. Please advise if the computer is fine

Hi Tanadin,

Thank you very much Trogan. The computer is working with normal speed already. Before that, it tends to slow down quite often. Anyway, I realize that there's no way we can be sure if the trojan can come back again. Please let me know what line should I look for in Hijack This log in case I find something wrong with my computer.

HijackThis is a very powerful tool, and should not be used without proper knowledge. Doing so can cause serious damages to your computer. The Trojans that compromised your computer are gone, and should not come back unless surfing the Internet unsafely. I will give you some recommendations for staying secure once we have finished checking the other log.

With that said, the log is clean. We'll update Java and run an Online scan to ensure the computer is clean.

1. Update Java. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update.

  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u2.
  • Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
  • The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on the download to install the newest version.
2. Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner

Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner

You will be promted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.

Note for Internet Explorer 7 users: If at any time you have trouble with the accept button of the licence, click on the Zoom tool located at the right bottom of the IE window and set the zoom to 75 %. Once the license accepted, reset to 100%.

  • The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
  • Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
  • Now click on Scan Settings
  • In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
    • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
      Extended (if available otherwise Standard)
    • Scan Options:
      Scan Archives
      Scan Mail Bases

  • Click OK
  • Now under select a target to scan:
      Select My Computer
  • This will program will start and scan your system.
  • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
  • Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
    • Now click on the Save as Text button:
  • Save the file to your desktop.

Post the Kaspersky log, along with a new HijackThis log.
