Unread postby Emixxary » July 15th, 2007, 12:00 pm

Good morning.
wonderful forum you have here. Thank you for any assistance you can offer.

After clicking too fast through some websites and accidentally downloading an antivirus program on a bad site... I now have the self executing windows explorer popups on my computer (which is funny as I only use Firefox).
I have tried to solve this by deleting the program, installing numerous legit anti-virus/malware/popup software. (AVG, Prevx, SUPERAntiSpy, Spybot, removeitpro, antirootkit, etc) These programs catch, quarantine and delete the trojans and Malware, however they continue to reappear on my computer.

Thus I put my fate in your kind hands.
Here is a log of my Hijack this I just took.

thanks

Hi Emixxary and welcome to the Malware Removal forums.
My name is Vino Rosso - if it helps, you can call me Vino for short. I would be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems.

HijackThis logs can take a little time to research so please be patient and I'd be grateful if you would note the following:
  • I will working on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
  • The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.
  • Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine appears to be clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.
  • It's often worth reading through these instructions and printing them for ease of reference.
  • If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to say or ask!! It's better to be sure and safe than sorry.
  • Finally, please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
1 - VundoFix
Please download VundoFix.exe from >here< and save it to your desktop.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run again on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.

When VundoFix has finished, use Windows Explorer to go to C:\vundofix.txt and double-click on the file - Notepad will open.
Click Edit > Select All then Edit > Copy
Paste (Ctrl+V) the content with your next reply.

2 - SmitfraudFix
Delete any version of SmitfraudFix you may already have - this is important as SmitfraudFix is updated very frequently
Download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop from >here<
Double-click smitfraudfix.exe
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press Enter
This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works. When it is done, the results of the scan will be displayed and it will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other options until you are asked to do so!

Note: process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

3 - Uninstall List
Run HijackThis then click on Open the Misc Tools section
If HijackThis is still open, click on Config > Misc Tools
Click on Open Uninstall Manager...
Click on Save list...
Leave the default filename as uninstall_list.txt and save the file, noting where it has been saved
Close HijackThis.

4 - Check on status
After you have completed the above, please reboot and post:
  • the Vundofix.txt report
  • the SmitFraudFix output file rapport.txt
  • the uninstall_list.txt
Good Luck
Vino
