Hello! My extreme pre-emptive gratitude for your help and your continued dedication to help hapless users (and the computers they love)! You guys and gals rock!

I recently was opening a file I'd just downloaded that was supposed to me a MP3 to MIDI converting program and my computer freaked out and shut down. Now every time I turn it back on, it gives me this BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH and this error message:

"Windows has encountered an error and has been shut down to prevent damage to your system...

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGE _AREA

If this is the first time you have seen this error reboot your computer. If you receive this message again start your computer in SAFE mode and attempt to change the BIOS options of shadowing and caching..."

Something like that anyway. This is a consistent error that always ocurrs right when windows is booting up. I can't even access windows unless it's in SAFE mode, so no internet. I've attempted to do a few things and have looked at the registry keys and ran Norton AV but the computer crashes when I do these things. It's unnerving. From what I've been able to do with web searches, this is relatively new.

So I prostrate myself at your feet with my HJT log in the hopes you can help:

Hi,

Have you posted this same problem on the DELL Board

http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums ... &jump=true

If so I recommend you follow zbestwun2001's advice, as two people helping you can conflict with each other and cause problems

If this isnt you then please let me know, and I apologise for the mix up
