Please post a HijackThis log.

  • Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
  • Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
  • Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Additional Tasks dialogue.
  • Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
  • Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
  • At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
  • Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
  • DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Hi the commissioner

I'm Elrond, I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.

As an introduction, please note that I am not Superhuman, I do not know everything, but what I do know has taken me years to learn. I am happy to pass on this information to you, but please bear in mind that I am also fallible.

Please only use this topic for your replies on this problem. Do not start another thread.
The fixes we will use are specific to your problems and should only be used for this problem on this computer.
These things need to be properly researched and a complete fix for many malware problems can take some time and be spread over a number of posts, so please be patient and try to see it through to the end.

Before we start: Please be aware that removing Malware is a hazardous undertaking. I will take care not to knowingly suggest courses of action that might damage your computer. However it is impossible for me to foresee all interactions that may happen between the software on your computer and those we'll use to clear you of infection, and I cannot guarantee the safety of your system. It is possible that we might encounter situations where the only recourse is to re-format and re-install your operating system, or to necessitate you taking your computer to a repair shop.

In light of this it would be wise for you to back up any files and folders that you don't want to lose before we start.

Please observe these rules while we work:
  • Perform all actions in the order given.
  • If you don't know, stop and ask! Don't keep going on.
  • Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
  • Stick with it till you're given the all clear.
  • REMEMBER, ABSENCE OF SYMPTOMS DOES NOT MEAN THE INFECTION IS ALL GONE.
If you can do these things, everything should go smoothly.
  • Please note that you should have Administrator rights to perform the fixes. (XP accounts are Administrator by default) Also note that multiple identity PC’s (family PC’s) present a different problem; please tell me if your PC has more than one individual’s setting, but continue with the fix. Please let me know if you are using a computer with multiple accounts, as this can affect the instructions given.

It may be helpful to you to print out or take a copy of any instructions given, as sometimes it is necessary to go offline and you will lose access to them.

Now please rename HijackThis.exe to MyScanner.exe. You will find HijackThis.exe at C:\Program Files\Hijackthis\HijackThis.exe. You can navigate ther by using the Windows Explorer. This is important to do because it looks as if you have an infection that hides itself from HijackThis.
Once you have renamed HijackThis.exe please do a new scan and post the log.
If anything is unclear please ask. There are no dumb questions, only dumb answers. :)

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Download SDFix and save it to your desktop.

Restart the computer. When the BIOS has finished loading (before Windows starts loading) start rapidly tapping the "F8". A menu opens. Select "Safe Mode". The computer will start in safe mode.
This can be tricky. If Windows starts up in normal mode, repeat the process. If you have a keyboard with a "F Lock" key click it so that the "F" light above it is on when you start tapping the "F8" key.

Run SDFix
  • In Safe Mode, right click the SDFix.zip folder and choose Extract All,
  • Open the extracted folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the script.
  • It will remove the Trojan Services then make some repairs to the registry and prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  • Your system will take longer that normal to restart as the fixtool will be running and removing files.
  • When the desktop loads the Fixtool will complete the removal and display Finished, then press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Finally open the SDFix folder on your desktop and copy and paste the contents of the results file Report.txt back onto the forum with a new HijackThis log

Now can I get you to...
    1. Download this file - combofix.exe
    2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
    3. When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.

Run a new HijackThis scan and post the logs from SDFix, ComboFix and HijackThis. Please mark what is waht. It saves me time when working on the logs.

Sorry should have warned you that it will take a while before safe mode loads and during that time it will show a black screen with the white text Safe Mode. Please try it again.

That does not sound right. Probably malware wrecking havock.

Let's run Combofix first and then try to run SDFix a bit later.

Download and Run ComboFix

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Try to see if you can get into Safemode. It should take maximum five minutes to get into safe mode. If it takes longer than that we will have to find out why.

If you succeed please

Run a new HijackThis scan and post the ComboFix log and the HijackThis log. If you succeed in running SDFix please post that log as well.

Under all circumstances let me know what happened and do what you can of what I asked you to do.
