getting rid of cchijacker

Unread postby rawdon van rixtel » June 16th, 2005, 12:40 pm

Before SWI's computer broke done I had followed some of their instructions, but feel that I need to start again.
I have got rid of Spyware, History Kill, Best pop up killer and a lot of other things I was asked to - via hijack this.
I can only assume that bits of Spykiller or other malacious code is still present.
Why - the computer runs slower and slower if left on for some time, to the point where I have to reboot, then its normal until the next little slow down.
Also I cannot scan drive C or defrag it via progs accessories system tools. My other partitions D E and F are OK.

I could use some help please.

Thoise are the only bad lines I can see in your log.

The first two are just orphaned - not malware as such, the other looks like it is a search page hijacker, although it is very unusual to see it with non IE lines.

Fix those with all other windows closed and post back with a new HJT log please.

You look clean now - do you have any problems.

I would do any defrag of drive c: in safe mode. Delete all the tempary files (internet properties, c:\temp etc) first.

Then let me know how it 'feels'.

Dont know whether this problm should be stated here, but you will no doubt tell me.

Connected with all this inoticed tha I cannot scan my C drive or defrag it. Howeer My other partitions D, E, and F are perfectly OK.

The scan on C starts but does not get passed the first folder stge.

Have you tried in safe mode.

Often scans of the C: drive get interupted by working programs - doing insafe mode sometimes solves that.

Does scandisk or disk error checking work.

Chris
Thanks. my apologies for the delay in coming back to you. The scan and defrag both worked in Safe mode as suggested.
As for the hijacker problem I think it has been cured.
However, if I leave my machine on for some time without any activity, I fing that the response dies, the curser jerks around, as if there is some thing being written, or activity that I cannot see.
Rebooting the machine cures this, until the next delay response. Its annoying, but livable with.
Maybe you can throw some light on the subject.
Thanks again

Post a new HJT log.

But this sounds more like hardware.

Chris you may be right. I built this machine about 7 years ago. Its an Athlon 500 mZ with 500mZ of memory.
Just cmpleted a 3.2Gig running XP pro, so may be worries may be over. I am retired but have to keep the mind busy.
Thanks for all your help. The latest HJT follows

It still looks clean.

I think you may have a heat fault., but I am far from a hardware expert.

You could try PCPitstop they do hardware support help.

Chris
My apologies for the delay in replying.
I really dont know where to start. The machine got from OK to worse and finally would not boot into anything except safe mode.
I just could not find what or where the problem lay.
In desperation I carried out a full recover dated 23 December 2004, about 6months old.
I got it working last night around 2am, but of course all the nasty stuff like popup killer, history kill etc is now embedded in the registry. I will carry out another hijackthis and include it here.
Sorry for all the trouble. I thought my problems were behind me.

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:
