internet explorer pop-ups

Unread postby misty72 » February 16th, 2007, 11:56 am

Hi can anyone help, for the past week i have been getting pop-ups that appear to be from internet explorer e.g. adverts for various companys.
I have ran Adaware,Spybot s&d,A2 and my own anti-virus. I have done what they suggested but im still getting them.

Also when i go to the internet explorer browser i am getting a blank page although i can still access favourites and search.

Hope this makes sense i am not that great with computers.

Any help would be appreciated.

Please Download NoLop to your desktop from one of the links below...
Link 1
Link 2
Link 3
  • Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work.
  • First close any other programs you have running as this will require a reboot
  • Double click NoLop.exe to run it
    • Now click the button labelled "Search and Destroy"
<<your computer will now be scanned for infected files>>
    • When scanning is finished you will be prompted to reboot only if infected, Click OK
    • Now click the "REBOOT" Button.
    • A Message should popup from NoLop. If not, double click the program again and it will finish Please Post the contents of C:\NoLop.log along with a fresh HijackThis log
--If you receive an error, "mscomctl.ocx or one of its dependencies are not correctly registered," please download mscomctl.ocx to your system32 folder then rerun the program. --

Post back with the NoLop log and a new HijackThis log

Place a checkmark next to these lines(if still present)

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://uk.red.clientapps.yahoo.com/cust ... yahoo.com/
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [rect shim first gram] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Manager mail rect shim\Knobbend.exe

Go here to run an online scannner from Kaspersky.
    • Click on "Kaspersky Online Scanner"
    • A new smaller window will pop up. Press on "Accept". After reading the contents.
    • Now Kaspersky will update the anti-virus database. Let it run.
    • Click on "Next">"Scan Settings", and make sure the database is set to "extended". And check both the scan options. Then click OK.
    • Then click on "My Computer", and the scan will start.
    • Once finished, save the log as "KAV.txt" to the desktop.

Post back with the Kaspersky log, a new HijackThis log and let me know how its running now
