Welcome !! Please take note of the following while we are working together:
  • Your fix may take a couple posts so please be patient even if you don't see immediate results.
  • I will working on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
  • The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for the issues on this machine.
  • Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine is clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.
  • If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to say or ask!! It's definitely better to be sure and safe than sorry.

***************************************

Please install an antivirus and firewall first, because it doesn't make any sense to remove malware from your system if no scanner is preventing them from reinfecting your computer.

AVG Anti-Virus, Avira OR Avast Home Edition are good FREE antivirus scanners.
After installing ONE antivirus program, download the latest signatures, and do a full system scan.

Without a firewall your computer is susceptible to being hacked and taken over:
Kerio Personal Firewall OR ZoneAlarm are good FREE firewalls.

Read Understanding and using firewalls to learn more about using firewalls

VERY IMPORTANT: Never install more than ONE antivirus scanner and firewall on your system! Several together can give problems and decrease their reliability and effectiveness!

*************************************

Download win32delfkil.exe.
Save it on your desktop.
Double click on win32delfkil.exe and install it. This creates a new folder on your desktop: win32delfkil.
Close all windows, open the win32delfkil folder and double click on fix.bat.
The computer will reboot automatically.
Post the contents of the logfile c\windelf.txt, along with a new hijackhislog.

Please download the Killbox by Option^Explicit.

Note: In the event you already have Killbox, this is a new version that I need you to download.
Save it to your desktop.

  • Go to Start » Control Panel » Add/Remove Programs.
  • Search for all previous installed versions of Java. (J2SE Runtime Environment.... )
It should have this icon next to it: Image
  • Click that entry and then click on the Change/Remove button.

Please re-open HiJackThis and select Scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below (if present).

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {A4F94C0C-54A7-4DB1-9AF3-B22E63D00310} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\compstuid.dll
O2 - BHO: C:\WINDOWS\system32\clbcatix.dll - {D4DFC1D8-2D2E-4962-B0D0-389FBA0F76B5} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\clbcatix.dll (file missing)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [af880b2c.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\af880b2c.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [af880b2c.exe] C:\Documents and Settings\erica\Local Settings\Application Data\af880b2c.exe
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\clbcatix.dll (file missing)
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Sun Java Console - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\clbcatix.dll (file missing)
O18 - Filter: text/html - (no CLSID) - (no file)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: clbcatex - C:\WINDOWS\system32\clbcatix.dll (file missing)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: iexplore - m4ge4.dll (file missing)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: winrkp32 - winrkp32.dll (file missing)

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. close HijackThis.

Open Killbox:
  • Please double-click Killbox.exe to run it.
  • Select:
    • Delete on Reboot
    • then Click on the All Files button.
  • Please copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\compstuid.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\clbcatix.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\af880b2c.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\erica\Local Settings\Application Data\af880b2c.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\m4ge4.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\winrkp32.dll
  • Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard.
NOTE: You must use the File menu--pasting by right-clicking the mouse will only enter one file.

  • Click the red-and-white Delete File button. Click Yes at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click OK at any PendingFileRenameOperations prompt (and please let me know if you receive this message!).

If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run Killbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try Killbox again.

After reboot,

Download and install the newest version of Java from here.

Then, Please go HERE to run Panda's ActiveScan
Note: This Scanner is for Internet Explorer Only!
  • Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
  • A new window will open...click the Check Now button
  • Enter your Country
  • Enter your State/Province
  • Enter your e-mail address and click send
  • Select either Home User or Company
  • Click the big Scan Now button

Please re-open HiJackThis and select Scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below (if present).

O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\clbcatix.dll (file missing)
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Sun Java Console - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\clbcatix.dll (file missing)

    C:\WINDOWS\Temp\win21.tmp.exe.tcf
    C:\WINDOWS\Temp\win22.tmp.exe.tcf
    C:\WINDOWS\Temp\win23.tmp.exe.tcf
    C:\WINDOWS\Temp\win24.tmp.exe.tcf
    C:\WINDOWS\Temp\win26.tmp.exe.tcf
  • Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard.
NOTE: You must use the File menu--pasting by right-clicking the mouse will only enter one file.

  • Click the red-and-white Delete File button. Click Yes at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click OK at any PendingFileRenameOperations prompt (and please let me know if you receive this message!).

If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

after reboot, post a new hijackthis log.

Then let me know how your PC is behaving :)

It seems that the original simptoms have disappeared and I have no major complaints about my computer's behaviour any more. Please let me know if this is only my impression or does the hijackthis log confirm it :) And, of course, thanks to you and all the other folks who are doing this thing, you are something like Jedi knights fighting against the dark side :)

Nice analogy. I hope I can live up to that :P Are you a Star Wars fan? :D

****************************

Congratulations, your log looks clean! Are you having any other problems?

If not, we have just a couple of last steps to perform and then you're all set.

It's also a good idea to Flush your System Restore points after ridding yourself of malware:

  • Click Start | Help and Support | Undo changes to your computer with System Restore.
  • Click Create A Restore Point then click Next. Give it a name it and then click Create, then Close.
  • Close the Help and Support Center box.
  • Click Start | Run and type Cleanmgr
  • Select (C: ) then click OK.
  • Click the More Options tab.
  • Click Clean Up in the System Restore Section.

This will remove all previous restore points except the newly created one.

Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programs:
  • SpywareBlaster to help prevent spyware from installing in the first place.
  • SpywareGuard to catch and block spyware before it can execute.
  • IESpy-Ad to block access to malicious websites so you cannot be redirected to them from an infected site or email.

To keep your operating system up to date visit
monthly. And to keep your system clean run these free malware scanners

weekly, and be aware of what emails you open and websites you visit.

To learn more about how to protect yourself while on the internet read this article by Tony Klien: So how did I get infected in the first place?

Have a safe and happy computing day!
