Hi mschroe919!

Download and install CCleaner. Don't run it yet.

Make sure no files are hidden. To do this:

1. Click Start.
2. Open My Computer.
3. Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
4. Select the View Tab.
5. Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
6. Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
7. Click Yes to confirm.
8. Click OK.

Hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete to bring up the Task Manager. End Task:

userinit32.exe
MediaAccK.exe
MediaAccess.exe
gah95on6.exe

Run and scan with HijackThis. With all other browsers and windows closed, place a check beside the following and Fix:

F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=userinit.exe,userinit32.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Media Access] C:\Program Files\Media Access\MediaAccK.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [gah95on6] C:\WINDOWS\System32\gah95on6.exe
O16 - DPF: {15AD6789-CDB4-47E1-A9DA-992EE8E6BAD6} - http://static.windupdates.com/cab/62479 ... e-c139.cab

Boot into Safe Mode. To do this:

1. Reboot your computer.
2. Tap the F8 button as your computer is booting to bring you to the Advanced Options Menu.
3. Select Safe Mode and press Enter.

Search for and delete this folder:

C:\Program Files\Media Access

Search for and delete these files:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\userinit32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\gah95on6.exe

Browse to the C:\Winodws\Prefetch folder. Delete all files in the folder, do not delete the folder itself. Empty the Recycle Bin. Run CCleaner.

Reboot Windows normally and post a new HijackThis log please.

C:\DOCUME~1\user\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER1.tmp.dir00\sysdata.xml
C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini080403-05.dmp

don't know if I should look for these file and delete too?

Those are files generated by XP when something bad happens. In researching that, I've found it can be caused by almost anything from bad video drivers to an overheating CPU.

Seeing as how you are getting the error when trying to use the Wireless connection, I would start with troubleshooting that.

Oh, and could you post a new HJT log please? Want to be sure you are clean.

Thanks.

Thanks for posting the new log. It is clean!

To clean up any remnants that may have been left behind, I suggest doing a couple online virus scans. A couple good ones are Panda ActiveScan and TrendMicro HouseCall. Let them fix anything they find. Reboot between each scan.

Do the same with Ad-Aware and Spybot.

After that reset your System Restore Point. This will ensure a nice clean backup to fall upon if you ever need it. To do this:

1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. Click the System Restore tab.
3. Check the "Turn off System Restore" or "Turn off System Restore on all drives"

Reboot your computer, follow the steps above, this time unchecking the "Turn off System Restore" and reboot.

Along with Ad-Aware and Spybot, you might also want to look into installing SpywareBlaster, SpywareGuard, and IE-SPYAD. You can grab them from the links in my sig. The programs are free and can be updated, so please remember to do so. Installing these will go a long way in preventing reinfection.

You might want to reset the Restore Point again after you get the driver/hardware issue cleared up as well. That way if you do need to restore, you won't have to do that fix again.

Check out the links in my sig named How'd I get Infected and Understanding Spyware as well, some good information for you :)

Other than that, remember to update Windows frequently, update your protection programs, scan often and...

Surf Safe!

Click Start>Run, type in services.msc Look for Ulead Sservice System Files. Right click on the service, choose Properties. Stop the service. Change the startup type to Disabled. Exit the Services Console.

Run and scan with HijackThis. With all other borwsers and windows closed, place a check beside the following and Fix:

O21 - SSODL: HJEECCEE - {3BB60012-575A-061C-36F8-1C2D37A12CBE} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\Hfpgicnk.dll
O23 - Service: Ulead Sservice System Files (Ulead Service) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\winole.exe (file missing)

Boot into Safe Mode. Search for and delete these files:

Thanks a lot 'KotaGuy,
I realy am going to score some points with my wife and her friend. The PC is fine now again. Hope it stays that way. Can you tell me what I did wrong as to why it got messed up again? Because the first time around the wireless was doing the blue screen and restart, then the dial up was doing it. When she took it the last time she did not go on line cause she uses dial up at work.. To start with I think I goofed up and had th AV off when I went to microsoft for up dates. I want her to put on th SP2 but I got to wait a couple of days first.
Again I can't thank you enough. Here is the new log:

Not quite done yet....

This entry:

O23 - Service: Keyboard Service System Files (Keyboard Service) - Unknown owner - C:\key.exe (file missing)

I dont think should be there. Search for C:\key.exe. Right click on the file. Choose Properties. Let me know what it says for Vendor info, etc.

No C:\key.exe located. Did a search found nothing, also had show hidden file open. also ent to add/remove not there?

I did however go to the start/run/services, and found it as:

Service Name: KEYBOARD SERVICE

Display name: Keyboard Service System Files

Description: Common Keyboard Service Files

Path to Executable:
C:\Key.exe

Startup type: Automatic

Service Status: Stopped

Go back into the Services Console. Scroll to Keyboard Service System Files. Right click on it. Choose Properties. Change the Startup type to Disabled.

Close all other browsers and windows. Fix this line withHijackThis:

O23 - Service: Keyboard Service System Files (Keyboard Service) - Unknown owner - C:\key.exe (file missing)

Reboot and post a new HijackThis log please.

MORE STUFF I DID:

I run spybot S&D and got this on the check for problems:
PROBLEM:
Error during check!
Xuron55 (Datei C:\Windows\win.ini Kann nicht geoffnet werden. The process cannot acess the file because it is being used by anotherprocess)

There is a check mark by:
>DyfuCA.internetOptimizer
>ISearchTech.SideFind
>n-Case

When I click the fix the checked items I get a window sayig:
Creating a restore point.

Then I get a window sayin you want to delete....I say yes, then:

I get this window saying:

Some problems couldn't be fixed: the reason could be that the associated files are still in use (in memory)
This could be fixed after a restart.
May Spybot S&D run on your next start up?

I click YES

I get a window saying
0 problems fixed
6 problems could not be fixed. Please restart your computer!
I do then:

After restart I get the legal window
Then Spybot runs and is checking system:

After it I get this:
I get the same screen as the first search, same problems to be fixed?
