Hi There,

I keep getting these random popups as Browse the internet, most of them telling me I've been infected with viruses and malware...I'm running IE 7 beta 2...probably not the best thing for me to do.

Did you knowingly install this application

Covenant Eyes "internet accountability" software

As indicated by these lines in your log

O10 - Unknown file in Winsock LSP: c:\windows\system32\nmnsp.dll
O10 - Broken Internet access because of LSP provider 'cespy.dll' missing

It is Surveillance software that tracks all activities, logs keystrokes, etc.

You are running 2 antivirus products: AVG and Avast!
This is not a good idea because it may cause conflicts
I recommend you choose one to keep and uninstall the other one

You do not appear to be using a firewall
Please choose one of the following free firewalls and istall it:
Sunbelt kerio personal firewall
Zonealarm


  • You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files:
    • On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
    • Then click on Start Update.
  • The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
    (the status bar at the bottom will display
    Update successful
    )
  • Close Ewido Anti-Malware
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.
Ewido manual updates
For the next step you will need to boot into safe mode. As you will not have access to the internet please print out or write down the instructions.
Once the updates are installed, do the following:
  1. Reboot computer into
    Safe Mode
    using the
    F8
    method...
    • As soon as the BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the Boot Menu appears
    • Use the arrow keys to select the Safe Mode menu item
  2. Once in Safe Mode start Ewido Anti-Malware
  3. Click on scanner. (Note: Do not start any programs or open any windows while Ewido is scanning)
  4. Click on Complete System Scan, the scan will now begin.
  5. While the scan is in progress you will be prompted to clean files, click OK.
  6. When it asks if you want to clean the first file, put a checkmark in the lower left corner of the box that says
    Perform action on all infections
    , then choose clean and click OK.
  7. Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located at the bottom of the screen named Save Report.
  8. Click Save Report.
  9. Now save the report .txt file to your desktop.
  10. Close Ewido Anti-Malware


Reboot to normal mode

Run an online virus scan called Kapersky from HERE.

1. Click on
Kapersky Online Scanner

2. A new smaller window will pop up. Press on
Accept
. After reading the contents.
3. Now Kapersky will update the anti-virus database. Let it run.
4. Click on
Next
>
Scan Settings
, and make sure the database is set to
extended
. And check both the scan options. Then click OK.
5. Then click on
My Computer
. And the scan will start.
6. Once finished, save a log as
.txt
to the desktop. And restart.


To access the Uninstall Manager you would do the following:

1. Start HijackThis
2. Click on the Config button
3. Click on the Misc Tools button
4. Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button.
5. Click on the Save list... button and specify where you would like to save this file. When you press Save button a notepad will open with the contents of that file. Simply copy and paste the contents of that notepad here on your next reply.

Post back with the kapersky log,the ewido log, the uninstall list and a new hijackthis log along with the details about the program Covenant Eyes "internet accountability" software

Thanks Random/Random,

I missed one very important tool when I was going through the boards suggestions before I posted...the vundo removal tool.

I found it and got rid of it, I'm also going to go through and work on some of the other things you've suggested, I just haven'y been able to do them yet...I'll post when I have.
